Hybrid Healer/Bonder

Here is something that I have come up with to add a bit of flexibility when you are the only monk in a group. (PvE only) I developed this build specifically for the Last Day Dawns quest where it worked admirabley (I used Mend condition instead of rebirth). It also worked very well in for Titan Source. I have used it in 8-person teams and it seems to work fine.

I call it Hybrid H/B

You need to have at least 2 scalps with sup runes in them (Prot/Heal)

Attributes:

Healing - 14 (while wearing healing scalp)
Prot - 14 (while wearing prot scalp)
Divine - 14 (sup rune - could easily use a minor and have 12)

Skills

WoH
Dwayna's Kiss
Vigorous Spirit
Healing Touch
Blessed Signet
Life Bond
Balthazar's Spirit
Rebirth (or Hex/condition removal depending on the area)

Use a staff with 20% enchant mod for 36 second Vig Spirit

The whole point of this build is to slow down damage taken to the team so that it is easily manageable by one monk. So, you have to keep the Bonds and Vig Spirit on everyone at all times. Also, this build does not work well when the majority of the mobs will be damaging with spells and there aren't enough melee/ranged monsters to keep your energy up - for example, the Defend Denravi quest.

Basically, when you enter an area, put on your Prot Scalp and throw up Balth's on you and Bonds on your whole team. Then switch to your healing scalp. Whenever you get close to a fight, start casting Vig Spirit on your team, and yourself, in between Blessed Signets for some added healing and enchant cover. When your team starts taking damage from attacks you should be filled up on energy pretty quick so make sure everyone has VS on them and then you can use Dwayna's as you main heal (everyone should have at least 2 enchants on them). If anyone gets extremely low give them a WoH. Whenever your health starts to dip down near 60% use Healing touch.

If you are in an extremely shattery-rendy area put Balth's and Vig Spirit on those that will get to the mobs first to soak up that first round of shatters/rends/strips. You can also drop the bonds if they are causing you too much trouble and just keep it all going with VS, Dwayna's, and WoH

Variation - use Mend condition instead of dwayna's as your main heal if you are in a very conditiony area.

Word of Caution - be careful when the damage starts to slw down (when some of the monsters are dead) that you don't over-use your energy.

Let me know what you think (also, I only have prophecies and am sure there are other spells that would compliment this build well from F and NF)

I used to run somewhat of a similar build, along the lines of..

WoH - Orison(Or Breeze) - Kiss - Mend Condition - Life Bond - Balth Spirit - Blessed Signet - Rebirth..

I wouldn't suggest Healing Touch (I utterly dislike that spell alltogether) and rather swap it for a ranged heal..

Vig Spirit is a nice idea though..

If a bonder doesn't bring Life Barrier, then why not bring Healing Light or Boon Signet... I prefer Healing Light because it basically acts as a free heal for about 80+DF bonus.

thanks for the comments (I haven't been on for a while).

@maien girl

the reason why I put healing touch in there was because whe it really heats up and people start taking big damage, you start taking some of that too (even though it is reduced by half and then by 28) and you can end up hurting very quickly if someone targets you. So, I really needed a good way to bring myself back up quickly (since WoH and Dwayna's aren't self targeting), and Orison never seems to be enough in painful situations. Most of the damage that you take will get covered by Vig Spirit so Heal Touch is baiscally a safety measure when it starts to hit the fan. Plus, with VS and LB on everyone you really don't have to heal the team much except for against big spikes, which can almost always be taken care of with either Dwayna's or WoH.

@ Carth`
The main point of the buils isn't to be a true bonder. Life Barrier isn't enough to carry a whole team and if you keep it maintained on the whole team you won't have much energy left to fight any other damage (ie degen and spikes). So that is why I chose L bond in stead of barrier, to reduce the dmage taken and turn my team into an energy pool. I had basically used WoH as a safety net for when I couldn't heal fast enough with VS and Dwayn's, but I am sure there are better options...I guess I'll try something with better synergy.

I don't have anything but propechies, but I am sure that there are some good skills from other campaigns that fit with this build. Boon Signet sounds good, but you don't really need extra energy during a fight. I am not sure what would be better.

thanks again for comments

I don't believe carth was suggesting bringing life barrier, i took it more along the lines of since your not bringing life barrier, healing light is a much better choice. but considering you only have prophecies then WoH is one of the better choices. restore condition is also a great elite if conditions are going to be present.
