I don't know about others, but I found this to be nearly impossible to complete with human players around my lvl (lvl 9). Its easy, until the last boss, who easilly out-heals henchy/hero monks, and does a lot of high-damage attacks. Problem is that I can never find a human monk for healing or a mesmer to help shut-down the boss (yes...you people reading this... Mesmers are important in PvE!) I am playing a Derv.

If you own Proph and/or Factions, or you PvP, you probably have some other elites to put on your heros. I recomend putting Grenth's Balance on your hero Derv (you have to take her to this mission), and Signet of Midnight on another Hero (probably your monk, or put it on warrior, but I prefer to take the monk). Both these elites are stat-independant. With these two skills, that boss (Acrogipneca or something like that...you can see from this post that I don't remember any character's names )goes down in like 10 seconds with this setup. He gets shut down and suffers massive damage.

Just writing this to help those that may have trouble with this mission.

apparently the ghost guy does not follow you to the alter, it happened to me once, but it is a real easy mission if everyone sticks together, it gets a lot harder than this trust me !!!

Maybe you should think about what you want to say before needlessly bashing someone who may have had a bit of trouble with a particular area. I'm sure there are many others who don't post on forums all the time that have trouble with it.

To the topic creator, nice to see you found a creative way to get past that guy.

I did not take offence and I expected it.

This mission probably is very easy if joined by a human monk but I didn't see any when I played this. It is easy if joined by a lvl 14 character. It should cakewalk with a mesmer, but I never see those. It may be easier with a human warrior, but I don't think so. It may be easy played with 3 human guildies who know what they are doing - instead of a PUG - , but I wouldn't know as I live in China and can't join a guild in my time-zone. When I was there, there were a lot of Dervishes, Paragons, and a few warriors. With these classes, that boss is difficult. The mission IS VERY EASY UP TO THAT BOSS. But that boss does a lot of damage with fast-cast attacks. It kills my derv in about 2 hits. That NPC chick (Korin is her name?...can't remember names) is useless. The boss "switches" class too. It has big self-heals. If you are a dervish, then two slots are filled with Dervishes. Which means less shut-down attacks.

So bring blinds and life-steal. Grenths Balance and Signet of Midnight work great.

Oh, and BTW, minor point... in the second chamber you have to get two stones. Pick up the first stone and drop it by the alter before you get the second stone. If you put it in the alter, by the time you get back to the second alter with the second stone, the first alter has "reset" and you need to get the first stone again. I sort of think this is a bug.

the stone does not get reset and its not a bug, a ghost picks up the stone again from the altar and puts it back ;]

This mission is actually really easy with just heros (or henches) once you figure out how to do it -- and/or know how to play your profession. My lvl 9 ranger did it with heros only first time out, Masters level.

just bring 2 monks, 1 hero (usually as protection monk) and 1 hench, if you got max damage weapon use it, I was level 9 derv and set scythe mastery to 10, all i hit is 104 104 104 oh those undead guys, especially with heart of holy flame you do holy damage.

Instead of heroes, people should give henchmen a more of a chance. Henchmen have AI programed specifically for this skill set, unlike heros. People tend to think Mesmers are weak in the beginning, but that's just wrong. So do bring an Illusion Henchmen, you'll find that the Illusion Henchmen doesn't use any Illusion Magic.

Falcon Dance: I believe that this mission is easier for a Ranger. Most things are easier for a human ranger because a human ranger can easilly stay at range and not die. Same for Necromancer. Also easy for monk probably.

Sage Tank: Yes, the undead die to Heart of Holy Flame. That boss does not. And if you are a Derv, you can bring 1 Monk Hero and 1 Monk hench (you have to bring the Derv hero), plus yourself. If you play a Derv, how do you bring 2 monks, 1 hero, and 1 hench plus yourself?

Lightblade: I want to take heros as much as possible so that they get xp. That being said... You said " So do bring an Illusion Henchmen, you'll find that the Illusion Henchmen doesn't use any Illusion Magic.". What does it use? I never paid close attention...I always thought he spammed Conjure Phantasm and the like.

I failed this mission the first time on the last boss because I rushed in blindly

With a bit of thinking i.e. not rushing I managed to defeat him pretty easily on my Dervish. At first I left my heroes to try and kill him but they weren't doing' much. I then went in there and managed to whittle down his health very fast (perhaps because he was focusing on Koss and Dunkoro was healing him every time he got hit )

I can understand that it's different for every class though. And I missed out on Masters because Kormir killed a ghost without me knowing *sigh*

tried once with humans.. failed. tried with my heroes. easy and straightforward. i believe me and my heroes were level 10 at the time. just run your team away when kormir starts attacking the sunspears, youll still get the bonus.

i find people who say they struggle with a mission are either not a high enough level or just aren't good enough.

I have guild members asking for help all the time. and i'm like "come back when you're level 15" and then i'll help.

you want people to be level 15 for mission 2 ?

the mission outpost has level 9 henchies
- usually a good indicator of the desired level

the ranger/ele sidequest you do AFTER mission 2 is designed for lvl 11+
- the hero you get is level 11

I wasn't talking about that mission sorry. It was one of the later ones. There was no point in me "helping" if they were just going to get to the next place to struggle again. with scrolls and hunts they could have gained a few leveles in no time at all.

I was level 20 when i got off the island the first time.

When I did this mission,I was lvl 10,with nothing but heroes, and mastered it. It's not rocket science. The only funny situation was with the ghost and the 2 tablets.

If I placed one,the ghost would come and take it, so what I did was take the first to the alter, drop it in front of it, then go get the next one. Once I retrieved both, then I placed both.

Afterwards,it was all cake.

And how does one bring all these when the party size is 4?
The easiest way to deal with this boss that I've found regardless of the bonus, is to have one player (or hero) take mesmer secondary and bring frustration, and if you have it arcane conundrum then an interrupt or 3 (Illusion/domination or Illusion/inspiration) Ranger/Mes is great for this. If you mostly stay at range and send in ONE tank the boss probably won't get a single spell off.

Why you little.... with a human group that won't auto attack this bonus is actually easy of course, but with heroes and henchies its kinda tricky. You can cripple the ghosts and not kill them, just remember to have the heroes set to passive first. Heal area/ring is good here too, because even that wimpy Kormir can take out the ghosts eventually.

This is one of the easiest mission of the game. did it at lvl 8 with a group of 3 human (around lvl 8-10) and some hero/hench. rly easy.

The solution here is interrupt.

Set one of your heros as a ranger secondary (make sure you've got a bow for him in your pack!) and set two or three skills on one side of his bar to interrupt (Concussion Shot/ Distracting Shot/ Savage Shot or any that you have available that interrupt the targets actions), pump a few points into marksmanship/expertise. Its best to use a hero with a fair amount of energy.

Then just before you take on the last boss, pull the few undead in front of him and get rid of them so you only have to deal with him alone at the end. Then "shift" + click on all but the Interrupt skills on your chosen "ranger" hero - so that he only spams the interrupts on the boss - and don't forget to equip him with his bow!. Then all of you just pile into him and watch him not be able to get one spell/skill off while you bash him to pieces.

Hope this helps some-one.

aside:
The level of the player's character should not be a criteria for anyone's eliteism or ego - but it is rampant on these forums and ingame.... a persons skill at playing the game should be the criteria - and how will you ever know this unless you play WITH this "noob".... go figure.

And posting a reply to an OP that simply says "I did this/it's easy as pie/you noob" without actually providing your solution or suggestions, so that others can learn, is totally worthless and simply trying to "bump" your forum rating..... save it.

Way to be useful, ramma-thorn Seriously though, the mission was all easy until the end boss. If I hadn't had heroes set up with Prophecies/Factions skills, I'd imagine I would have had a pretty rough time with it.

The Mesmer henchie using interrupts and equiping the Dervish chick (who I never use since I am a Dervish) with Warrior secondary, the Skull Crack elite, and the no attribute interrupt did it for me.

Those of you saying it's easy, that's great for you and it was great for me. Hope you had fun strutting your stuff and we all think of you as gods among mice in the world of Guild Wars.

That'll teach the OP to try and help people who might be having a rough time

Now, please tell us the skills you and your heros had in your skill bar and which skills did you find did the most damage to get him down to 0hp.

And then, please tell us which skills you used to make sure that you and your heros did not have 0hp before he did, and which skills you found to be most effective in achieving this.

Hmmm, with a ranger, the most effective skills I had against the Undead were Powershot and Crossfire. Same against the Boss. I took Koss, Melloni and Dunkoro (I think), no interrupts per se, just a touch of brute force, stealth, and precision . No running skills, just patience to wait for the fire throwers to stop (and then a fast trot thru). A lot of this mission is timing, the rest is killing.

With an elementalist, it was a bit more difficult. Fire magics (Liq. Flame, Fireball, Flare, Glowing Gaze, I think, but don't quote me exactly) were the skills du jour and required a little slower mission somehow. I used Koss, Jin (with Barrage) and Dunkoro.

Haven't gone through yet with my Para-Beast Master (in training) so unsure exactly what skills I"ll use then.

With my Monk/me, I plan to degen and smite everyone back to a state of active death.

Can I have a cookie now, Friday? I was a good girl and listed how I won through .

Stick heart of holy flame on all your dervishes, it doesn't need to be specced. It absolutely destroys the undead.

Against the boss, just be wary of his dervish form. You should be able to power through him if you bring damage output. Don't worry about loading up on defensive stances. Just take your rebirth sigs and rez sigs. When someone goes down, get them back up and return to pummeling the boss. Pump your weapon stats on your physicals.

Thank you, Friday .

Warskull, I never even saw the Boss take/use any other form, we apparently killed it so fast. I don't remember if any of the party fell, but I don't think so.

Again, most of the mission is patient timing. There's no timer running, so take your time and creep if you have to. .

Never had any problem with this mish either when I henched it with my lvl 9 dervish and paragon but I have to confess I hacked: I had a lvl 20 in the team.

Oh wait...

PS: for the tablet (and masters) here is the trick: if you put the tablets on the column or whatever, the sunspear ghosts will come and get it back ASAP. If you drop it next to the column, you have enough time to go get the other tablet: the ghost won't come unless you wait much more time than needed to do that.
