Hey guys, I've been playing Guild Wars for a long time and ever since the beginning the fame system has always been broken in the way that everyone uses it to reflect someone's true skill and therefore discriminates other people simply because of their rank. People have suggested resetting everyone's fame counter but I think that would ruin everything because even though it is broken, people have worked hard for their fame and also it wouldn't solve the main problem.
What I propose is to leave the fame system as it is but also add a new fame system on top of it. Bear with me as I try to explain how it would work.
Firstly, someone could play ten rounds of HA and lose every round after just one win, therefore gaining 10 fame in 10 runs while someone else could have one run, win 4 in a row and get 10 fame. The new fame system would give 1 point per win regardless. If you win 5 matches, you get 5 points, if you win 5 matches in a row, you get 5 points, if you win 500 matches in a row, you get 500 points.
Call it something like the 'Competitor' title track and add it so you only get Competitor points in HA.
What this would do, is that the people who have their high ranks already, will be able to continue gaining fame in the way you can currently but on top of that people also get Competitor points as well. It would also make sense to allow use of the /rank and /fame emotes for the various levels of the Competitor title track (3,6,9 etc).
At least this way, you have a reflection of how much a person has played Heroes Ascent and 6v6 Pvp instead of a reflection of how much someone has played (successfully) HA holding builds. You're never going to get a true indication of someone's skill but this way you at least get an indication of how much someone plays.
You could even go as far as extending the Competitor title track to incorporate RA, TA and GvG by simply scaling the amount of points gained per win, for example: 1 point per RA win, 3 points per TA win, 5 points per HA win and 20 points per GvG win, this way you get an overall idea of how much someone has Pvp'd instead of restricting each separate Pvp-type to their own title tracks. I know that Balthazar faction can show this, but because of the fact that it's been capped, it can't truly reflect someone's accomplishments in Pvp, and also there's no title to show for it. A title track for overall Pvp accomplishments would solve a lot of problems which we have in the Pvp part of the game where elitism and discrimination rules everything.
Something needs to be added to Pvp to solve these problems and I think that this solution is going down the right track, the situation is already out of control but it's never to late to fix-up.
A

) and you get people who abuse PvP with cheapo holding builds. Live with it.............
