A Storage Solution
Chev of Hardass
So, anyone think what they added in storage was good enough?

Ok, sotrage solutions have been done to death, most with people screaming for niche ideas like key storage, when not the whole community would benefit. Well then this idea may have been suggested before, but I cannot find it in either the index of ideas, or via search, so please enjoy my suggestion, and/or link me to where I can sign an older version of this if it is about.
Bags 5 slots, upgrades to 10, so thats 10 slots of helpful storage, when your bag is empty you can put it in your inventory, but what if, while your bag was full, a Xunlai agent could put it in storage.
I'm not saying you can carry around 10 full bags within a bag, thats giving 100 storage slots alone there, and technically could ead to infinite storage, so thats bad.
But if you could take a full bag, a drop it straight into the Xunlai for them to stoore as a normal item, and to take stuff out of it, you would have to re-equip that bag then Everybody's storage issues would be solved, the Xunlai storage gives you 20 slots? so thats 200 storage space within your storage area, 190 if you leave room for a bag your carrying to be placed in storage while you take out another.
plus the 25 from bags on you, and the addiditional 20 in your actual inventory, and, if your a weilder of a 2 handed weapon the sneaky offhand holding you get.
190 + 10 + 10 + 5 + 20 + 1 = 236 slots of storage, and thats not even including your material storage.
I don't think anybody could need any more than 190 possible slots in your storage at any one time?
Feedback is appreciated here rather than just signed / not signed stuff.
Also i dont honestly think that i could use that much space, and it may be too much, but then have it work on only unenhanced bags, and then thats only 5 slots per bag isntead of 10.
Also atleast this way as opposed to key storage, everybody can have a use for it.

Actually i think someone mentioned putting a bag into storage, just the other day. But to respond, i guess you're suggesting, essentially, to up xunlai storage from 20 slots to 200? seems a bit much.

Yes i figured the numbers may be too high, sorry if this is a repeat suggestion, i looked a few days ago, but then didnt get round to posting till today ><
DeanBB
Perhaps if something like this were added there would be 5 slots on the bottom where you could deposit a filled bag to limit the number?
Tide to Go
wow........that is a very...very good idea. I hope people see this because its a very smart plan.

I think this isnt the first time Storage issues and suggestions have been brought up. The main problem doesnt lie with Anet not having ideas on how to solve this problem, but rather their unwillingness to increase storage. Perhaps some of the reasons why this may apply:
1) Anti-items centric policy: As much as players love items and collectables, Anet would seem to suggest that item collecting isnt the point of the game and that is a direction they are not willing to consider despite huge popularity. As Jeff would say: "Thats totally not the point of the game!"
2) Anti-items hoarding policy and the economy: The very fact that we as players have a limited storage forces us to constantly get rid of items we dont really need or use and store only the essential items. What this translates is that more players would be inclined to return the items they found on their adventures into the economy which they dont use by selling them to the crafting/Rune merchants. Imgaine if everyplayer had unlimited forms of storage, everyone will just hoard stuff and wont let go of their items and soon no one will be able to find anything they need from the material merchants for example armour insignias which you otherwise will have to buy from other players for even larger amounts of gold or find them yourself which makes the problem worse.
3) Mules, servers and the real world economics: As others have pointed out in the past, players have been creating mules(characters which they dont play) to store items which provides 45 slots worth per character but of course inventory management is a nightmare (i spend around 30-40% of game time managing inventory) In the past before character slots for sale, players would buy a second account to either make more mules to store items and gold and play more characters or in today context buy more character slots from the online store. So assumming Anet is willing to provide its player base with more storage slots which takes up more server load, whos is going to pay for it? From a bussiness standpoint, as long as customers dont start leaving/not buying expansions just because there isnt increased storage but have found way to over come their own storage problems and contribute revenue to the company, why the hell should they even borther? Just keep quiet and pretend its not a problem and let the cash keep rolling in. This represents my current sentiment towards Anet's stance on this issue that they have been avioding for the past 18 months.
While I would happily /signed on this and other numberous storage options suggestions such as this one, i dont like fooling myself or others that it might happen when it isnt.

a bag can fit in the storage (empty)
items can fit in a storage
a bag can hold up to 10 items while only taking up one bag slot.
so why not a full bag in the storage?

we just need more storage. i wonder why we haven't gotten it yet. how long have we been begging for more storage? lol

The whole point in the 'small' storage is to prevnt characters gather tons of armor, weapons, and such, so they'll have to sell them, give them away, and such. If everybody stores everything they get prices would rise.
This idea will give you 25*10 slots, for a total of 250 items!
I don't bet they'll allow that, sorry...

Id rather like Superior storage runes, only foun by monster killing, they'll share Rare scroll merchants, ans would turn 10 bag into a 20 one, and 5 belts into 10 ones.

Great ingame experience both pvp/pve. We have to understand that after a while ANET will sell less and less copies of the game. Still, their maintanace costs will be high. So ANET wont agree on giving you huge storage because of their marketing issues. If you want more storage, buy another copy, make another account. Just an idea: if you want pay a monthly fee for a greater storage, more toon slots, etc. Optional upgrade package. Cuz, hey. If i build you a house i wont agree on building you a garage, dog house for free just cuz you need it. I think that ANET gives sh*t on your ingame gold/plat. If they wanted your plat, they`ll just make id and salvage kits cost 10 plat. Or better, charge you 100 gold whenever you put or remove stuff from storage and also charge you a % of the gold you get out putin / get out of storage. All in all, more storage is needed, but we most probably wont get it |
I had an idea for armor. Armor sets will take up one slot. To equip a set you drag it on, simple. If you want to equip a certain piece you would just choose it from a drop down list that appears when you try to equip an armor set. Example: Need my Tormentor's Armor but I need my Vile Scar of sup Blood, so I drag my Scar armor set over and it asks: Equip: [V]All[V] choices would include any armor piece from that set.
Also I wouldnt mind paying doulbe for double storage, and double again for double that storage, ad infinium

I think that's great. I've seen various specialized storage ideas, and while it makes sense for some things that have a limited set (like dyes, materials and to an extent keys - but those will keep increasing with chapters), it doesn't make sense for open-ended options. But letting you put 20 bags with 10 slots in each into your storage is marvelous. You could have different bags for different items, and organize it.

/signed Nice Idea, as I find the idea that my character can hold more than a chest that is about 5 times the size of her a bit silly
Another idea would be:
To be able to access all your chars bags no matter what char you were logged on with. So you could swap stuff about without having to log in and out a thousand times, i know i know it is not really that much effort but is still a pain in the arse. Both parties win here, we (The players) win as we can make pvp mules and Anet wins as people would buy more account slots. And yes i am lazy :P

I agree.(/signed)
However another option would be to allow each character to have their own personal storage box along with the the shared one.

Every toon I make has to pay 50gold to access the storage...but it is the same storage. No problem I first thought with that number of slots and a 10 slot bag in each it will be plenty....then I discovered that you can't put full bags in storage Most games I have played have a system of shared storage...but they all have a realistic veiw of how much stuff 4 toons can acumilate..lol. I wouldn't want to lose the shared storage, but I would really like to see the implimentation of usable bags for storage slots |
/notsigned dumb suggestion. I have no storage issues since I am smart enough to sell my items.

Anet made a storage with 20 slots(if i remember correctly) which, when the created game #1, we had 4 chars, 20 slots, +char storage was MORE than enough, but then came #2, we had 6 chars, and things we wanted to share between them (event goodies and what not) storage space was getting a little thin, then #3, 8 characters, o dear lord i have no storage left! and thinking about this, i have 9 characters!!!!!!!, how is 20 slots between 9 characters enough, they seem to have forgotten the golden rule of life, the more people there are in one place, the more space they need to live and survive, so, as our game population, and char count increases, space must be expanded, it may cost more, but it must be done for both our sanity and good old game experience.

Just make some sorta extra storage option.
First extra 10 slots 5k
Second extra 10 slots 10k
Third extra 10 slots 20k
Fourth extra 10 slots 30k
etc etc

Storage is small for a reason - so you sell things
They do not want you to be able to keep tons of stuff. By selling stuff off the economy keeps moving-if noone ever sold craft goods(for example) the merchants would run out of goods to sell.

Theoretically, if each bag can hold 10 items, and there's 20 slots in the storage vault, that means storage itself would be able to contain 200 items. Factor in those of us with mule accounts could hold an additional 450 items.
/signed, but only if they put a cap to how many bags you can have in storage... like have 4 only slots.
