Ok here it goes, doing a mission afew days ago and this one particular incidence stands out. I was firenuking with my new character, and I had a full nuking bar looked like this.
Glyph of Energy(E), Meteor Shower, Fireball, Breath of Fire, Firestorm, Rebirth, Heal party(only in 8 man missions) Glyph of lesser energy,
<PVPer so i was using a slightly modded pvp bar which i had found decent success with.
Now heres where it gets bad, a monk by the name of monkmcmonkster(not real name)
Monkster's health starts dropping noticed about 4-7 monsters hitting him, so I shot a fire storm on him which is its purpose for me a defensive skill. Since there is an AoE factor where monsters scatter and this monk couldnt exactly kite well. So i threw it up and here is the conversation
Monk:WTF you idiot why would you put firestorm on me your offense
Me: Dude I made the monsters scatter didnt i which saved you no?
Monk: It doesnt matter just use your skills right and ill use mine
Me: there is no way to directly decide the right way to use skills its all subjective
Monk(In whisper): Stupid @$$ ele doesnt know what to do
Me(In whisper): Eles are incredibly versatile learn the game then talk to me
Ignored and he raged finished mission - a monk.
Was I wrong in the handling of this?

him, he probably is one of those w/mo and mo/w people, wammos and 55's they think they know the game and think everyone is supposed to play the same way, i use the same aoe factor as defense i dont blame you
Cracko
Firestorm just shouldnt be on a skillbar imo, but if you only use it for scattering then it's fine with me (I would be happy if i get saved by an ele like that). Other then that it was you that handled good and I guess the monk was having a bad day :P

You = In the right.
That monk = Idiot.
He should have thanked you, not insulted you! -.-

stop pugging, problem solved.

Personally, I wouldnt have two scatter spells (BoF and Firestorm). I'd replace one of them with Rod's Invocation. However, if you're using them as defense and not offense, there is no reason for the monk to complain.
Many people use FS as offense because its a cool animation. Monkster probably saw some get chewed out for using it that way and thought he'd show his leet knowledge off to you. I wouldn't be too concerned.

Your first mistake was applying logic and reason to the situation. Stuff like that happens a lot in GW. Ppl don't want to listen or hear your side of the story. They just think they know the best way to play and don't want to listen to any other ideas.

I agree that you shouldn't bring firestorm, however the fault was on his part. If he's standing there long enough for you to throw up a 2s cast and for it to take effect long enough for them to scatter (another 3-5 seconds), then he needs to learn a thing or two about monking.

Ok first of all TY all for replying.
I usually will mod that slot out but it was a lower level missions (tyrian char come over to elona) and felt that i might as well take some fun skills i do generally take rodgorts but i also notice that bar works just fine.
Figures its just disapointing that tehre are so many of these people in GW.

A. I wouldn't be carrying Firestorm (or using fire magic for that matter)
B. I wouldn't argue with people that dunno wtf they are doing
C. Your response was just as bad... "learn the game then talk to me" is kind of condescending

I think you handled it fine and very responsibly...but did you check to see if he wasnt a 55?

Hehe, things like this always happen. When you cast FS to help scatter mobs to save a team mate, they start yelling at you. Then again, some players are stubborn and will not refrain from using FS for damage, not caring about the scattering effect even when told. As such, I only use FS as a last resort to save myself not others.
It's really good that you knew what you were doing though, you have my praise.

my monk occasionally carries the aoe smite spell just to cause scatter on his attackers, tbh firestorming to clear scatter off your monk seems like a really clever thing to do.
