Guild Wars: The Day it Rained

Well the other day, after a horrible experiance, I remembered all the "Post the biggest jerk" or "Post you're best Ascalon drop" sort of threads. So I had this idea..

Post about the day it rained on you in Guild Wars.


Well for me it this sunday night/monday morning.

I'd been working on a character in pre-searing. She needed to have the survivor title to fit the little (or should I say massive) storyline I have for my characters. Now I didn't want to leave pre-searing, but I didn't want to risk the Charr alone either. So at level 9 sunday night I entered the academy. WHAT WAS I THINKING!? Never enter on a weekend if you want the title, theres actauly PEOPLE in there. The teams were pretty even, except we had a level 5 warrior.

I managed to live through the whole fight, but the warrior died quite a few times. I don't blame him, nor am I mad at him, but our team had a lower score and the clock had hit 0:01. Now I have no clue if the teamslay that happens because of losing counts as a death, so I hit the X (Knowing my team would get a henchman in my place and do fine getting to Ascalon from there).

I logged back in to give it another shot, but now my character is stuck at some place called Ascalon Academy and it Err7s about .5 seconds after the screen starts to fade in. I tried on my other computer, same deal. So I sent in a bug report and appearantly i'm gonna have to wait somewhere between tommorow and 8 months for this to get fixed.

(In the matter of unaccesable characters I don't think the standard automatic message should cut it in this support system)

So monday morning when I wake up, WOAH AMERICA HAS THE FAVOR! So I take Acolyte Jin in the underworld. Our traps were just enough to get us past the Aataxes, but after that, the smites were easy pickins. Well to my luck, there was like a group of 15 of them dead in the center. I lured them all, and had them all in a nice little ball. I brought them all perfectly into the traps, and saw that one ACTAULY DROPPED AN ECTO FOR ME FOR ONCE! So I tried to pick it up. -suspended animation-.... BLINK! Apearantly the smites weren't really in the nice little ball. 2 were stuck on the wall, 4 pinned Jin down, and about 3 came by just to kill me after they had let their buddies eat the traps.

so I sat there staring at that Glob of Ectoplasm and the Return to Outpost button... Wishing... That there was some way... to come back alive.

Then I noticed Europe had one win left so I jumped at the return to outpost button and started running toward the statue of grenth. Before I could reach the statue, Dwayna was struck by lightning, Balthazar was put out, Grenth and Melewhatshername stopped flowing water, and Lyssa was entangled in vines. Europe had done it again, but this time right before my eyes.


So I made this post today (after dieing JUST before all the trolls died from my traps near droknars and dropped me nothing because I was dead). I made this post thinking, maybe I'll feel better if I know I'm not the only one who gets rained on these days.

Note: I would create the survivor character in Cantha if it would let me use Tyrian faces/hair/skincolor.

LOL you think your unluck? pshhhh one time i was in urgoz on my rit in trapper group (when spirit lord wasnt nerfed) and OMFG we got up to urgoz for my first time now i was really excited but my comp seemed to lag a bit like it let me move but skills wouldnt activate and they just keep looking like a vortex! after 20 seconds or so i couldnt move then after a small amount of time it stoped! (thank god, or so you think) we planted traps and i made my spirits and urgoz came and he was dead.........OMFG OMFG OMFG OMFG
SHORTBOW DROPS FOR ME (the one i was trying to get for my ranger) i got to pick it up but im standing right on top of it.......ERR 7 STRIKES AGAIN so I log on VERY VERY frustrated and i pm someone in the group i was in "what happened?" he replys with idk i got err 7 too so i PM someone else same thing but then after couple minutes i go on guru i see SOMEONE FROM MY GROUP POSTED A PIC of EVERYONE in the group got err 7 and he picked up all 3 drops i pm him in game and same wtf what are the odds he says hacks

Rained...

At first I thought rain... As in, yesterday when I was walking in the desert it just started raining for a while in the game. I think I took one screenshot, but I'm not sure - it would be on the other computer if I did...

If you quit the PVP portion, you come back where you're fighting the NPC Grawl and then you're past presear...


I was wandering the Jade Sea, capturing skills to my hearts content, or my financial limit... And every monster on the sea wanted to magically aggro and chase me to the ends of the earth. I actually had the Ele boss that patrols in Silent Surf (that I hadn't gone near at all that time) stop in his patrol route, turn around and come fight me by the res shrine on the small island, it was insane. Oni both spawned and came a-runnin when not I nor my henchies were anywhere near their spawning location. Monsters that WEREN'T on the radar would start chasing me out of nowhere, it was the craziest day...

What's funny is, just before it started happening I said "I very rarely have any henchies die when I play my monk"

A few deaths and a handful of skills later I emerged from the Jade Sea with a newfound respect for the magic aggro bug (I had previously only seen it with monsters I had fought beforehand).

:O That really sucks!!

The day Factions arrived..GW has continued to go downhill since. NF brightened it up a little bit NF is far too easy.

Where are the dynamic weather effects...

Now there is something I didn't explain. For the past few months i've been trapping with a friend, and the UW has been faithful with dropping him one ecto every time. When he killed the trolls at droknars he ended up with 5 more black dyes. When he was selling a puple dye in pre-sear, a random female nec just traded him a black dye for it. He was able to buy/sell over 6 HoD swords when they were big.

I've only been dropped 3 black dyes, the first was a whole 7 months after I started playing. The best deal I got in pre-searing was an orange and a yellow dye for 50 gold each. WHEN I GET DROPPED a purple dye its a BIG thing for me. I've been in an Underworld trap group, which I led, and lured, and saved us twice.... AND THE OTHER GUY GOT 3 ECTOS AND A GOLD STORM BOW!

Its a code violation for good stuff to happen for me randomly. Well in Guild Wars atleast, maybe if my actaul life sucked i'd get better results in Guild Wars.



Anyway, that said, i'd be pissed about that bow too, its just, I don't care much for greens so I can't empathise(sp?) with you.

Rurik broke them all by using his stupid rain horn.

/agree. Factions brought this game down...its stayed that way for a while now.

Why do people associate rain with bad fourtune? I love the rain...

since iway is pretty much dead, usa has no pvp power left haha

A few nights ago I went into hell's precipice wanting to cap hundred blades for my warrior. (which was long overdue by the way) I went in with henchies thinking i'd get my butt whipped. I got all the way to undead rurik without dying once when my connection went bad!! I, needless to say was not very happy at that moment.

Actually, the worst day I ever had in Guild Wars was when I was forced to delete my very first character AMD ZEN because I wanted to make my monkey, Lord Sojar. SAD DAY... He had 15k hydromancers and 15k pyromancers.

so you are actually saying you had a gun or something pointed at your head to delete that very first char? Or was it a decision you made yourself?
