Acquiring Hero Pet

How do I acquire a pet for my Hero. I've disabled all of Jin skills except for Charm animal, started to attack pet, backed off thinking Jin will use the skill but he/she (sorry never paid attention) does nothing. Went up to many different pets without attacking first and he/she still does nothing. What am I missing?

you have to manualy click charm animal on her skill bar , make sure your targarting the pet you want
