Nightfall in Tyria and Cantha
Shinigami God
In the issue of PCGamer that reviewed Nightfall (the one with the Grey Giant) they said that people playing through the prophecies and factions campaigns, even those who hadn't bought nightfall, would be experiencing the effects of Abaddon in their gameplay. I have not noticed this, has it already happened, is it scheduled to happen, or was this something the PCgamer people made up?

I would wait untill the big update they are planning is released, before looking at everything the article said. If it doesn't happen then, then something may be up.

COUGH COUGH COUGH WINTER UPDATE COUGH.
Alright I'm done, I'm sure what Anet was talking about isn't lies. It has to be in their big "update". So lets just see how it effects the game shall we?

I presume this is refering to the Torment rifts. (i.e. the Tyria/Cantha to Elona missions)

We did experience the effects of Abaddon's AI updates. I mean it affected every area!
I'd agree with the quests to get Hero's and over to Elona. Also Tombs is pretty much Abaddon world, as is any other place that houses Grasps or Scythes.

Well, that's so broad who knows?
The change in Tombs along time ago would fit, the hero you get at both places could, all sorts of things. It would be neat to have more.
Plus, those articles are not always exactly correct. There is no telling what statement they are paraphrasing - they very well could have translated what I said above to "changes in Tyria and Cantha", especially if the person writing the article isn't familiar with the game (he/she wouldn't know that they are old changes, just that they were changes due to nightfall). Then no one is a liar, just mis-communication, and it happens all the time in the game industry.
Wait until their "big update" they have talked about and we will know.

Did you miss the whole thing of the Lich and Shiro being corrupted by Abaddon to do their whole take over Tyria/Return to the living thing? The Titans are directly from the Realm of Torment which Abaddon resides. If that isn't an effect of him on gameplay, I don't know what is.
Also, the whole Tombs thing and the Zaishen stepping in to move the entrance to HoH to HA.

I'm eagerly waiting for the winter update!!

That article for PCGamer was filled with stuff that hasn't come to be. And some of the stuff from the article is in the game, but it's not really on as grand of a scale as advertised. I remember this full page of concept art showing a giant floating castle/city. Article basically said that theses would be seen in vabbia. I haven't see anything like this at all, I brought this up in another thread only to be told that some little floating thing at some outpost is what they were talking about.
Anyways that is just one example from the many of things from the magazine that really aren't in the game.

Now wouldn't it just upset people to have a Torment Rift open above the king in THK and spew out some Graspings? I love it.
bamm bamm bamm
It was probably referring to the quests for gaining heroes. Who knows, maybe not, but just don't get your hopes up is all.

I know one thing, Dragon Fest and Tombs of the Primeval Kings had nothing to do with Abaddon or his minions...

I wonder if Lightbringer's Gaze works on the mobs in Tombs. That would probably make the area too easy though if it did.

They also said you would be able to explore Vabbian Ships in the article. I haven't seen that yet. As far as the floating city, it never said it would be a CITY and it never said it would be explorable. If you look in Vabbi you can see something that looks remakably like the pic in the magazine.

The Mirror of Lyss has a nice floating garden . . ..
