Unlocked stuff locked again

Recently the announcement 'You've unlocked x' was popping up a bit too much for me. Even some stuff like a 13^50 for inscribable weapons. I'm absolutely positive I already unlocked this one on my account.

So I went to the Priest of Balthazar, and i noticed a lot of stuff I already unlocked through playing the game, or unlocked with faction, is indeed locked again! I'm absolutely sure I've unlocked everything for R and W weapons, but the Priest tells me I still need to unlock some mods. Same goes for a lot of inscriptions.

Is there some update I have missed, or are there more people with this same problem?

That's an odd one, because I had a load of inscriptions already unlocked for me (presumably because I had already identified those mods from Tyrian and Canthan weapons and offhands)

Perhaps you just thought you unlocked it? I dunno...strange indeed.

The thing is, for a few days ago, many inscriptions were already unlocked for me too, just like The Pointless, because I've been playing for 18 months now. It's just that some inscriptions and mods are locked again, not all of them, but a fair deal nonetheless.... Well, thanks for your replies anyway, it isn't a too big deal really, because I'm not that interested in PvP. Just a bit odd, in my opinion.

I was also just recently affected by that glitch so it's not just one single isolated incident. I thought something was strange when I saw the message indicating that the 13^50 inscription was now unlocked. It seems the glitch just relocked certain inscriptions (not all) and wand wrappings that were previously unlocked. Nothing else seemed to be affected (I hope).

Was it maybe with a newly created character and u were just unlocking it agian on tht one? I mean from the priest of balthazar i have almost everything unlocked, but with my newly created paragon i have just unlocked 9% furious again and stuff like tht? Just an ingsight.. I'm probably totally wrong LOL.

Unlocks for items like skills are based on account, not character. These were items that were unlocked for some time (during the time from when Nightfall was released).

It's messed up. My guildmate has a screenshot of himself wielding a PvP item with a 15^50 on it. The priest of balthazar says it's locked. He also cannot make a new one, yet he's holding the one he had made the day before. He totaled up the faction that was "stolen" from him in the form of re-locking his UAX'ed account: ~50,000 faction.

I have the same problem. For some reason or another, most of my PvP item mods have locked themselves or reduced to a poorer quality. I can create 13^50 items, 20/11 sundering, enchantments last 14% longer and other nonsense.

I have a suspicion that this is the bug, possibly occuring since a recent update, and possibly only for some people:

When you unlock a mod in PvE, the corresponding item on your PvP item list gets updated to that. Meaning that if you had a 15^50 inscription on your item list (which I believe is there by default when you make your account) and then find a 13^50 with a PvE character and it's unlocked (being the first time you found that particular inscription) then the 15^50 PvP mod will get swapped with the 13^50. Same goes for all other mods with variable percentages under the same name.

Either that or mods have simply locked randomly. Regardless, it's a pretty severe bug that I hope ANet fixes as soon as possible.

Unfortunately it is not a rare glitch. It's happened to a number of people. Some have even had items relocked after unlocking them a second or third time.

Best you can do is report it via support and hope Anet figures out the problem before chapter four rolls around.

ok, so i remember seeing this thread awhile back about unlocks that were locked again and i laughed though HA, those suckers that's pretty funny!!! until i made a pvp assassin to play around with. now i've had nightfall since release date and i have unlocked the strength and honor inscription 15^50% heck, i even had one in storage although it wasn't a recent unlock still unlocked though. then i was playing some pve advancing various characters through elona and received several blue weapons one which had a strength and honor of 13^50% now the balthazar priest says the i've never unlocked the 15^50% just the most recent 13^50%, i hope anet sees this glitch and get's it patched soon



there's a screen shot of the 15^50% inscription and the priest of balthazar saying that i don't have it unlocked, i'm sure theres a few others that are doing the same where it's the most recent blue unlock that over rides the rare perfect unlock.

That's happened to me as well! Numerous inscriptions and such are locked for me while I clearly have unlocked them in PvE or actually PvP itself!

well, i submitted a report stub with a direct link to this forum page so maybe we'll get a response about it.

I've also been having this problem, not sure why.

I haven't been wasting any faction on unlocking them again, so its no problem there. I haven't even checked to see if they are for some reason unlocked or not, I just know that i've been getting the new unlocked item msg when id'ing soime inscriptions.

i haven't been wasting faction on that either as well, just sucks when you want to try and create a decent modded pvp weapon but you're unable to due to a glitch.

this picture proves nada. You could buy a 15 over 50 inscription without having it unlocked.

I don't know about the newer accounts, but the Inscription: "Strength and Honor" and many others should be unlocked to everyone who had their account before the release of Nightfall.

I also lost some of my unlocks.

yes, i know that but i've had this unlocked for along time and nor did i purchase that inscription or any other that i have, i know for others they might do that but anet has the final records so they will be the ones who will be able to in the end say whether or not it was unlocked. and if you would have bothered to have actually read my post you would have read where i previously ided that and salvaged the weapon then more recently ided a 13^50% which over rid the balthazar priest saying that's the one that i actually unlocked.
