Hey, guys,

If you are one of the folks with whom I was talking last week during an in-game visit, here's the latest on the Case of the Missing Elite: Through an oversight, the Ebon Dust Aura did not make it into the game. When I asked about it, I was given to understand it was incorporated back on the 10th. However, Ebon Dust Aura is not in the game at all. (A case of the players knowing a bit more than the devs, in this instance.

)

Thank you for pointing that out, and for remaining courteous while I checked into the matter. The Elite will be added in an update that we expect to make in the early to middle part of next week. (Before Thanksgiving, for your Americans.)

Alright cool, looking forward to capping for my dervish :]

Also anything about AI chasing you well after you broke there aggro? (They continue to chase you like they want to fight, but when you go to fight them they just run in circles and you can't catch them, but they continue to cast things on you, most noticeable on IDS runs.)

Next week? Dang, I asked you last night (I think) and you said it was very likely to be in todays (now non-existant) update. You sneaky devs managed to get the 3x update in without a patch!

No event that i've been too has ever started off with a patch (All the stuff for the events are prestreamed to you and ready to go), so I was surprised when outposts full of people were crying the the event wasnt here yet because of no patch, when it clearly had started because i was getting greens easy.

Thanks for the info and pending update Gaile.

For those unaware, Ebon Dust Aura isn't actually required for Elite Skill Hunter. Lightbringer Signet counts as an elite. But it will be nice for skill hunters to cap this one too - makes it seem more complete.

Much appreciated for going ahead and adding the skill.

I wonder how it will be implemented? They have added elites by changing existing bosses' skills, such as Xuekao, the Deceptive and Mahto Sharptooth, but they have also added bosses to compensate for missing elites, like Admiral Kaya and Neoli the Contagious.

If it's the former, in theory either Sehlon, Beautiful Waters or Leilon, Tranquil Water's elites would change, as they are the only two Dervish bosses in explorable areas with the same elite.

If it's the latter, hey

, new green scythe.

Either way, it's win-win adding the final elite.

Gares, I would think that it would be a vegetable boss. i.e. an Enchanted Brambles boss. they are the only monsters that use the elite in-game. And they are also the only guys with no bosses. There's an Iboga boss, a Jacaranda boss, a stalker boss (who looks like a binding spirit) but no brambles boss.

On a side note, until recently (2 months or so) updates pertaining to such events DID require a game update. This is no longer the case though, now it is done seemlessly.

Yeah, I had heard it was used by monsters somewhere, but I've been too obsessed with my green collection to get much farther than The Bazaar. So hopefully another new green will come along with the boss. I did see Enchanted Brambles in Vehtendi Valley, but didn't pay much attention.

But vegetable? You didn't change the species of plants to vegetables on wiki, did you?

I think that this was mistake too. When they add that Ebon Dust Aura they propably make it reguired to get max title (Increases max title reguirement with 1).

Thanks for repeating me, then throwing in an insult...

Anyway, you made my point, No Event ever starts with Game Patch, The content for the events is prestreamed and ready to go long before the event starts (sometimes they even put "made preparations for" on the game updates, which all but proves my point...)

For some reason I can't seem to understand, so many people expected for it to turn Noon on friday and all of a sudden we get a new build to signal in the triple weekend - when it has NEVER happened like that.

BTW, been to every event minus the Prerelease Beta weekends for Chapter 1. You seemed curious of this for some reason >_>

Enemies are supposed to chase you when you get low on health, so I don't think they are going to make it any other way for people doing farming or running.

Events don't need patches, because all that get changed really are a few algorithms on the server-side. Wintersday/Halloween might be an exception.

not to mention that, iirc, the Roaring Ether boss spawns twice in Mirror of Lyss, which also has a lot of brambles around...

I think for the smaller events, they prestream the info in, and have it set on a timer, so its there, and on a countdown, and when it becomes noon on friday or whatever, it starts up, and then a new timer starts counting down to sunday night. later on in another patch they can just remove the code needed for the event

Just to add to this point, this is not true in all cases. I have all the elites - ebon and the lightbringer elite yet do not have the 290 title on skill hunter. I remain on 289. The only thing I can think of is that I got the elite sig after capping all 289 elites. So my adivse would be get the elite sig before capping all the other elites, just in case or you may end up like me, having done the work but without the reward

wait, you're saying you have Ebon Dust Aura?

Anywas... Upon examining the skill cap table on the wiki, I believe the boss will be in the Mirror of Lyss. It's the only area in Vabbi that only has 3 caps (Paragon, Warrior and Mesmer), and has a duplicated boss and has a bus load of those Brambles.

I still have my Elite Skill gunter title, so the sig does count. I doubt that the exact time at which you acquire has any bearing on the issue.

Back to Ebon Dust Aura... I believe it will be in the Mirror of Lyss, most like in the southwest corner. The Mirror of Lyss is the only area in Vabbi that only has 3 elites to cap, it also has that mesmer boss duplicated and it is FULL of those Brambles.
