Not very many people playing propechies anymore?
tomanders91
Anyone notice this? i know most people are probably playing nightfall/factions but imo the first one is the best out of all 3.
Dreikki
Yeah, but most of the people are already bored with it.
It was launched about 18 months ago, and Nightfall has been here for less than a month. I deleted and created my necromancer couple days ago, for personal reasons. I saw alot of people in Pre-Sear, but in Nothern Wall, no one.

Well ANet didn't release sales numbers like they did with Factions and I notice most of my friends list (full) has been empty for quite some time so while more people may be playing factions and/or nightfall, there may be an overall fewer number of people playing. Splitting those remaining up between three campaigns makes it appear to be even fewer than it actually is. If you get and level up some heroes then you should have no problem playing around in Prophecies. If you are looking for company then you may need to look towards one of the other campaigns.

I have noticed there are less people.
Had to hero/hench a couple of Desert missions because of that.
Don't know how the Shiverpeaks are (just kicked dopple, now at dragon).
But the Desert always was abandoned during early weekend mornings (except the bots and those are gone), perhaps it's better in the evening.

I HAVE seen a decrease in the ammount of districts In all of the campaigns.
noir0
Decrease? On the european server almost all missions and some outposts were choc full of people playing through prophecies with they;re nf characters, and presearing ascalon was full of far more people than i've EVER seen there :/.
CyberNigma
you may have a point there noir0. perhaps Europe is increasing in number of players. you guys sure do hold halls a lot. not sure about the other servers so couldn't tell u there.
Antheus
It depends on time of day. On American servers I noticed that outside of prime time population is scarcer. But in afternoon - evening hours it fills up.
Population is of course getting dilluted. Add to that the addition of heroes, which make everything before RoF trivial (3 maxed out 20 vs. 17 henchies) and the answer is obvious.
Tyria, with all the additions since release, is simply too easy. New classes, new skills, new AI and new heroes make almost all content there look like pre-searing did, especially to vets.
Add to that the green weekend, multiple characters to bring through and it gives even a bleaker picture.
But above all, it's getting old. I do still feel that shortly, some of the higher end missions will start getting attention again, just like they did after Factions. Either for exploration or protector titles, simply for gaining access to map, it will liven up.
But Prophecies is getting old, and will eventually become much more desolate.

I've gone back to some of the missions in Prophecies with my Dervish and some heros and areas that used to be tough with strong lvl 20 Prophecies characters are now much easier.

But, other than fun little surprises like that, yeah, heroes do make Prophecies and Factions ridiculously easy.
Sidra
I think a lot of people/farmers switched over to Europe just to go somewhere that had favor. Poor Prophecies, the first and best of all GW chapters >.>
Count to Potato
With the addition of heros, Hell's Precipice was very easy for me, no other poeple needed, since there were only 5 people there...
Vandal2k6
When NF first came out there was a massive drop in people on Prophs. However they're starting to come back. I managed to get a team for Ring of Fire within 5 minutes last night. A week a go the place was a ghost town.
Aphraelyn
Well, as there are more campaigns...the playerbase would get spread over a larger area...so eventually there would get lesser and lesser people in areas unless ANet added something that would give people incentive to go back and play older campaigns =/
Winterclaw
After completing proph 3 times and getting to the Ring with a 4th PC, I'm burned out. Plus the fact they nerfed farming means I have less incentive to go back for that purpose. Unless I want to make a PC with a tyrian look (assuming I had a free slot) or I need to get tyrian class skills, I really wouldn't feel like going back right now.
IMO they really need to do a free update or a sequal for the original.

Actually I've been to the prophecies area and helped a lot of people through the game. It's not dead by any means. A lot of it has to do with what time of day you are on.
cosyfiep
think it really does depend on the time of day-----I am still running my last 2 canthan characters around tyria; my monk is in the ring of fire and my mesmer just got to the jungle.....saw about the same amount of people I have been seeing since factions. And when people get done with their new nf toons they will be taking them back to tyria as well (now factions is another story---was in levianthan pits the other day and I was the only one there, I logged off and then next day when I logged on again I was STILL the only one there----). So wait awhile, I think people will move back to prophecy when they get done with nightfall.
Dalimoor_Kalkire
I haven't really noticed. I've been around helping guildmates through various missions and it all seems the same to me. I also agree that it depends on the time you're playing.
Memnon
I dunno, seems as populated as ever to me. However I do see a lot of Factions and Nightfall characters roaming around. Makes for some good variety I guess.
Malice Black
One problem is Chapter1 starts off really slow compared to Factions and Nightfall. This will drive away people who bought another chapter first.
Pre-Sear - You either love it or hate it (Marmite)
Ascalon - Dull
Northern Shiverpeaks - Time consuming if you do all quests like me
Kryta - Gets a little more interesting, still no real challenge.
Jungle - Pretty but still lacking in any real challenge
Desert - Dull IMO but starts to get a little more difficult
Southern Shiverpeaks - Interesting, finally some high end action.
RoF Islands - Challenging
Now if you move onto NF..
Noob Island - easy to begine with but unlike pre-sear has some mid range mobs
Mainland - Straight into high end action, level20+ mobs
15k armor available shortly after arrival (Not the prettiest armor but what NF armor is?)
I still have a char in Tyria but I'm having trouble convincing myself to go back and play there now.

Age

Prophecies was my least favorite chapter
I never go there anymore unless a nonTyrian needs the storyline or skillcap
Factions and Nightfall have more re-playability for *me*
most their PVE content is for lvl 20s (unlike Prophecies)
milias
Interesting, Prophecies is actually my favorite chapter, Nightfall is somewhere in the middle, and Factions is my least favorite. I still B/P in Tombs, also. I really should do SF more often, though.
Dark Helmet
I see people playing Prophecies... a team forms in RoF every five/ten minutes or so, which surprised me.
Factions though... that's completely dead. Last time I was in Vasburg, there was one person there besides me... and Unwaking is completely empty.

No more people isn't that bad in tyria, to tell you the truth i almost like it, because i sometimes get sick of all the terrible players whining about everything and cursing at the stupidest things, Less nooblets to go around.
Vaedritol
To tell you the truth... I bought Factions and had fun with that. I recently had picked up Prophecies... and I love it! The leveling is much slower, which I enjoy, and I think it is MUCH better than F or N.
star firefly
Hey, you forget that Prophecies still (and will) get completely fresh players. I personaly know several people who only in the beginning of the game (level 11-12) and play it slowly during weekends or when they can. They are not hardcore players and also prefer to start from the beginning. (and they also have 1 or maybe 2 chars)
**Using this opportunity - a small rant...(moderator can delete it, just had to mention it) what up with those people screeming "noobs" on a new players. I am sure that they were once "noobs" themselfs. And some prefer to learn the game through experience and not by spending hours reading guildwiki.
Also MMORPG is not only for those who prefer to spend most of their time infront of the computer. It's for ALL who likes RPG games.)
