Ok, so I am just now getting into the end of Nightfall. I am at the Gate of Secrets. I have died so many times, I cannot take it anymore. The level 28 demon mobs are INSANE. Oh and then the other "fun" anet put in... Veiled Nightmare. Then the rangers use barrage AND QZ. So SS costs me.. oh... 26 energy.... because that is fair... and since no one groups, I have to use my heroes. They are running pretty good builds and I spent a mint equiping them with good runes, weapons, and insignias. So my monk uses Light of Deliverancy and it costs her 8 energy instead of 5. She uses Heal other to stop those giant 350+ dmg spikes. Costs her 17 energy. She only has 50..... WTF. Within 5 spells she is done, unless she gets to remove a hex, but wait, inspired hex costs 8 energy now instead of 5. She gets back 6. Net loss = 2... no gain.

So, I keep getting slaughtered again and again and again and again. Anets way of making PvE Harder? No, anets way of making PvE rediculous and not fun at all. I could deal with the lvl28 mobs etc, if... my spells didnt almost cost double. WTF?

So, after all that rant above, what builds did you use to get past here? I just can't figure out how to get by with Veiled Nightmare up AND QZ. WTF do I do?!?!!?!? *PS, i hate u anet for making Nightfall a miserable not fun piece of crap at the end*

EDIT: Thought about making Dunkoro a bonder... but wait! AI is so jacked up, he wont maintain ANYTHING. IDIOT!

Flame much?

Ok let me help you out a little.
1.What is your primary/Secondary Profession?

2.Did you take the Master of Whispers or Margrid?

3.Did you take the Mesmer or Warrior?

4.To make Heroes Bond you have to Shift + Click the skill that needs to be maintained then Manually apply it. <if you don't know how to do this let me know and i will explain it>

5.What server do you play on?

Sorry, my memory is horrible. But is this a quest where you get mobbed by waves of demons and basically end up fighting most of the time at the rez shrine?

Lightbringers gaze pawns all end game mobs, and you may want to look into mesmer secondary for energy management. Leech sig and power drain work well with hero AI

Is it the place where you use 40% more energy per skill/spell? if so i feel your pain ^^ it took me some time to figure out how to get through but it aint really that hard.

1. Take SS for the love of *** just take SS! or mark of pain for that matter.
2. Glimer of light powerdrainmonks rule here. only 5 energy per skill. wich makes it about 6 energy.
3. try to lure the mobs back and learn the patrols.
4. go through the dome if i am 100% sure you only need to fight 3 mobs in there 1 with only monoliths.

I did the mission with , koss, talkora, master of whispers, mhenlo, necro hench, earth hench, paragon hench.
Didnt run any special build as i didnt even notice the extra energy cost condition.
The bit that kept getting me was when i got to ahkanto or whatever his name is, i could beat the margonite group with ease but from the side a titan and one of them ball things... something madness.. i forget the name appeared and would kill akahnto before i could do anything about it.
Just avoid aggro as much as possible, guildwiki has a pretty good guide to doing it.

To make a hero maintain an enchantment, u have to disable the skill so they won't auto remove it. If you're talking about it getting stripped, then you can always manually click the button.

I think it's fairly simple to say that if you don't like the effect of a spirit, get out of its range or just kill it. They're low leveled so it only takes a few hits to kill. Heroes never were great at maintaining energy too. Light of deliverance is nice, but not that great for a hard heal. Word of Healing is five energy and heals as much as heal other when you need the same amount of healing. Dwayna's Kiss heals extra under certain conditions. And if you really have energy problems, bring a energy management skill. A reall one, not minor ones like inspired hex. Offering of Blood and Blood is Power come to mind. (You have SS so you have prophecies so you have Olias, he's pretty good with blood ritual and BiP) Paragons have some nice energy regain skills too, though I'm not too familiar with them yet.

Level 28 monsters aren't that tough. A good player should be able to solo one, they're still computer AI after all and don't always react correctly. Considering the amount of farming builds where one character solos bosses, a level 28 monster shouldn't be that big of a deal when you have a full group. Granted, I have no idea what you're talking about cause I've been farming more than going through Nightfalls, but from what you're saying it doesn't sound too different from the Titan quests at the end of prophecies.

Frankly, I find your troubles more of a lack of experience than the game being too hard. Just keep at it and you'll get the hang of it. And if computer AI isn't cutting it, than just wait for a group. A lot of the serious PvE players (the ones that don't rush through and take the game casually) haven't made it that far yet and once they get there you'll have a lot less trouble getting a group. Ask a guildie for help if you have to, or help them get to where you are so you have people to help you.

5.What server do you play on? I am not flaming, please dont take it that way. Just really frustrated. I have been trying this for the last 5 hours.

Currently, I am playing through on my Necromancer. N/X. Ive got a quite a few elites, including but not limited to SS, Flesh Golem, AoL, BiP, Life Transfer, OoV, Spoil Victor, Virulence, Soul Leech, Lingering, Plague Sig, Tainted, and thats all I can think of ATM. I have no new nightfall elites. havent gone capping. Just trying to play through

I dont have master yet. Where do i get him? Nor do i have mesmer hero (I want him sooo much to play as PD mesmer)

My Koss is lvl13... @_@ The team I have atm is:

Myself as SS/Curse necro with BR, Light of Deliverance Tahlkora, Dunkoro as Boon Prot with Energy drain, Dual attunement Zhed nuker with ward against melee (17 sec), mhenlo hench, devona hench, and illusion hench.

NOTE: All my heroes are very well outfitted.....

You mean disable Life Bond? Hmm, ok. But he still seems to remove it.

There are no QZ rangers in that place unless you took a quest. Didn't your mom ever tell you to not take quests as it messes with the area. Go back ,take all quests off, do them later. For now just get by the place. Aggro one group at a time, it's not hard.

QZ is powerful. But not broken. you can interrupt the 5 second cast, kill the spirit, etc

Oh, and Heal Other isn't exactly great efficiency when looking at heal per energy.

Seriously. Right, brilliant idea. Why didn't I think of that. OH WAIT. I DID.

Typically, 2 barrage rangers per group. It is already up when I enter the area. Typically behind the group. So I order heroes to run through to kill it. They do. Next ranger casts it. I kill it again, next ranger casts it. By the time we have focused on those spirits, its GAME OVER and energy is gone. SO yeh, that wont work too well. I guess my methodology here is to kill them before they kill me. Wasting time killing QZ means they are doing more DPS to my group and they are not getting any in return.

Please DONT use the word "Adapt" in another thread with me as the OP again. If I hear that word one more time, I am going to scream! I have adapted, for 5 (FIVE) hours now. To what avail? NADA.

Oh, and heal other is the highest heal after WoH, and since LoD is an elite, I cant quite bring WoH. So... that is the concept here. She has Dwanyas Kiss, Ethereal Light, Whisper, Other, LoD, inspired, channeling (i try and position her to use it most effectively), rez chant. Dunkoro has PS, RoF, Guardian, Boon, Energy Drain, inspired, mend condition, rebirth. I bring Extinguish and Aegis with 10 pts in prot and +20% enchants to switch to before casting aegis.

adapt works wonders. I played as a monk there, had lots of problems with the +40% energy cost, so had mhenlo. Hmm, what to do if 2 healers aren't enough? take another monk!
so you have trouble with barrage? switch one hero to /w and take "Shields up!" Problem solved!

problem with spirits? Take spiritual pain/unnatural signet with you. There you go.

sure heal other is the highest heal, but it makes you run out of energy fast. and a monk without energy is useless.

Stop bringing spells on your healers that cost 10 energy. All they do is spam them.

When QZ is dropped, your heroes don't care. They'll still use those skills and go oom extremely fast, then wander around like morons.

I found that area tough going with SS on my necro so I took it out and picked low energy skills:

Reaper's Mark
Lightbringer's Gaze
Signet of Sorrow
Defile Enchantments
Faintheartedness
Enfeeble
Sig Cap
Sunspear Rebirth

Hmm looks a bit strange now, but I managed to get though using these. Suited my play style though.

Yeah, that area is hard, but I pushed through, despite high death penalty, and copious amounts of cussing on my part. I was running my MM build, and had Master of Whispers set up as an SS. Forget what other heros I had though.

I feel for the OP though. Some places are just really tough to get through if you don't have the right group for it. Hang in there Rahja, you'll get it eventually.

Koss at only level 13?

Is anyone else under max level? I haven't made it to this point in the game so I can't comment on much else, but I noticed that even Consulate Docks was exceedingly different with the first, not-nightfall native character I took through it - who had under-leveled heroes. It was notably easier the second time around when my lowest leveled hero for that native to Nightfall character was at 17.

If your near the endgame and you've got a level 13 hero, it makes me wonder what else is either under-leveled or under-equipped.

One thing that always gets me. Why do people set up Tahlkora as a healer? You have Dunkoro there, Tahlkora was set up as a protection initially, so keep her that way.

People thinking bringing Heal Other will solve their problems when massive damage is being thrown around make me lol.

Yeah, if you're roaming the realm of torment with lvl 13 heroes then sure you are going to get pawned. They got low hp, paper for armour, and their skills do jack, damage or healing. I suggest you go level them at the consulate docks. Doesn't take long, and they get maxed armour and hp buffed to like 600, so it doesn't matter what level they are. Its easy to clear the whole place (getting you masters if you haven't got it already). Better than getting owned by random mobs. Two arms of insanity shouldn't even be worthy of notice, unless you're like lvl10 wearing starter armour.

I only recall one area that sounded that tough, when you first get into the Realm of Torment area, Kormir tells you to go to a place, when you step outside there are lots of Level 28 mobs... is that the place? Because I ran around the mobs, avoiding aggro. If not, I did not find the rest of the missions terribly mob heavy.

Like I said, I had some Master lvl quest on that was spawning a BILLION of these mobs. That might have explained it.

On another note though. Why the hell did ANET make these quests impossible? They are literally impossible. Monsters with 30+ pts in water magic hitting u with deepfreeze for 250 dmg each. Dervish lvl28s hitting you for 370+ dmg with chilling victory. These quests with 7-10 lvl28s per group are INSANE. I don't understand how these are even possible.... Maybe we could arrange an elite party of well thought out character builds to conquer them... @_@

yea that master quest has resulted in the death of many including me. If that's the area your in, you don't have to fight everything.

Abandon the master quest, or just run past them like I did. Then you can fight some stuff along the way but it's best to try to run past everything you can. I was fighting some mobs then noticed we somehow aggro'd another mob. I swear if your fighting a group, soon the whole screen is after you. (That may be a bug? alot of things have ran after me when there not even close to my aggro bubble.) So I decided to make a run for it. That worked for me but I'm a dervish, a highly survivable character, not sure how far your necro would make it.

If your still stuck message me ingame African War God I'll help ya through it.

Anywhoooo Nightfallen Jahai, here i come again! Yeah this was getting me as well, so I abandoned that quest, and you can actually run some of the main quests in nightfallen areas.

Tonight i actually did this quest though. Nasty mobs come from left and right, so I ran ahead before they converged, then I cleared out the area a bit, then started pulling those mobs (even though they are all clustered together, you can pull them out easily in groups of 3 or so). A few more left/right mob groups come, and I just let them all converge before seperating them out. Was fairly easy actually.

It's not the quests that are difficult to some players, it's the observing of skill list and adapting team build to counter threats in PvE.

Be it a quest where you see 30 Rain of Terrors coming down the hill towards your party of eight adventurers, protecting some old trees from corruption or what not, solution is always found from correct team setup.
