Sound Card Problem

I've recently purchased a 5.1 PCI Sound Card. Installation was simple enough i assumed, as I just plugged it into one of my empty PCI slots. Upon booting up, my computer seemed to recognise a new piece of hardware, which also seemed simple enough. Problem was that it was recognised by my computer as a Video Controller and not a sound card. Obviously it does not work at all as my computer assumes it is a Video Controller for some reason and I am getting quite frustrated.

Attempts to install the card's drivers with the included CD proved useless as the process stopped when it could not find the sound card.

Any help or idea on what is wrong or how I can fix it will be greatly appreciated.

Try removing it and placing it in another slot. YOu can also try installing the drivers first, then installing the card afterwards.
