this post is NOT a rant, it is a question so please dont flame.

ive been hearing around these forums that a-net discourages or wants to do away with farming. if this is true then why does 15k armor, the underworld and fissure of woe exist? fow and uw are there for the sole purpose of farming..am i wrong? without farming, how would anyone get enough money for 15k armor? kind of contradictory if you ask me.

A-net do not want to stop farming.

They want to stop BOTS farming. Therefore the anti-farm code exists, but it can effect human players occasionally (ive had it before...)

You try to make it look like a question, but it is clear what answer you imply. You're complaining about farming-"nerfs". Put on your asbestos suit!

They openly fight automated bot farming, but that is a very different matter. Farming by humans is pretty much okay for them, unless it's done excessively or using exploits.

ANet are well aware that they have to give the high-level players who have finished every quest and every mission something to do, a challenge, to keep them busy and happy. The gave them areas with high-level foes and/or repeatable quests. That the high level foes drop good loot is merely a side effect, and part of the incentive.

"Pre-nerf" is incorrect. It's pre-buff.

Expensive armours are there to sink gold from the economy which naturally accumulates and is not intended to make the players grind farm. Its just unfortunate that it turned out the way it is.

If they want to nerf bots, they can better disable picking up things trough keyboard keys :P

But alas, the casual players are allways the ones who get hit the hardest with those nerfs, farming now and then for a little bit of pocket money isn't illigal isn't it? :s

Some people absolutely love to grind. WoW is nothing but one huge grind. And seems to be doing well.

The 15k armors are marginal - you do not need to farm. Most missions/quests, even when done with full party, will give you around 1k + some resources. Just going through the storyline, helping a few people through random missions, and saving up will leave you with enough money. This has been proven before.

Of course, this leaves you with a choice. Do you go around, buying ale, the 100k + 50e weapons, black dye on all armor, or do you choose to wait for something else.

Many players play through GW as a single player game, once they beat the game, they are done. The other extreme is the farming crowd, who will stop at nothing to get the money. Both ways are viable.

And all this supposed farming nerfs come just from those that didn't find new options yet. Elona offers so many easily farmable areas that haven't been around since the times of Riverside Province or pre-nerf minotaurs. Sooner or later all these will be published. The old 55 monking however isn't really viable anymore, or if it is, it's too slow.

They make these as sort of a "prize" or sort of an accomplishment for all your hard work. I don't think ANet intended them to be sort of a stapled thing. As far as Obsidion armor, I think Anet's intentions was it to be sort of a GW "career" accomplishment. Sort of like buying a house. When you are young, you probably don't have a whole lot of money and so you get what you can afford. In the meantime, you save some money and put that away towards a bigger house a little later down the road. Eventually you'll have enough for the bigger house and then you can save for an even bigger house. I'm sure you get the idea. I really don't do farming at all unless it is to go and get some collector items, and just going through Nightfall I've about doubled my money. With that, I should now have MORE than enough for the Ranger Primeval armor I've been drooling over for quite some time. But like I said, I think they intended it to be something you gradually get over time by playing the game and not something you have to get as soon as you create a new character or something.

Tetris L. you should have read what i said. i wasnt implying anything i was asking a damn question. and by the way, the farm nerfs made no difference in the way i play the game. and also, your the type of person i said i didnt want posting on this thread. key words were "not a rant" and "please dont flame"

He didn't flame. He was just commenting on the premise your question was being asked under. GG. The question has been answered, and now this is useless.

I will say- if ANet really gave half a damn about the bot farmers, they'd come up with more intuitive ways to stop them, instead of "improving" the AI. Bah.

They are fine with farming by players...anet just doesn't like bot farming & in the process of stopping bot farming they usually harm player farms.
