Curse those Margonite Chests

I'm really getting annoyed with Margonite Chests. I must have opened at least 35 and have only recieved about 5 gold items, and none of the items I've ever gained were any good. The best I got was a req 13 10/10 perfect Deathbane Aerowind Blade, and that isn't exactly anything to write home about. Is there some area where the drops are significantly better or am I just having bad luck?

Chests might have been changed in the last update to stop being entirely random drops. I was in FoW last night helping someone get their armor, and a gold chest was dropping all golds (same for purples).

Well I've been hunting the the Domain Of Secrets with a team of henchies/heroes.

You are not alone. I am also farming lb points in secrets and I not only get almost all purples ... but the purples are NON MAX and req13.

Yeah, chests in NF are random now a day. I gone through different spots and get mostly purple drops but yesterday while outside the Temple area, i gotten two gold items from chests running there.

i chest hunt in vabbi, and notice that the more i farm it, the less golds per purples i get. also after coming home and farming i usually start out with about 4-5 gold chests straight

I find more good stuff then my stash (and combined heroes) can store. And i don't even farm.

When NF launched, chests were horrible (i.e 20 chest openings and all purple) but nowadays drops have been rather good for me.
I usually run two-three areas in desolation and couple domains in torment.

Funny you should say that since out of all the chests i've opened in elona, 95% of the max damage req9 ones for me have been purple... (I got my first and only req9 max gold today).

Been chest running fear domain today out of 22 chest's got 12 golds, to me thats a lot more than the other domains, once you've got the area sussed out its also the easiest to run.

Im getting so many grapes I should start a micro brewery. I have gotten many more golds as drops then I have found in chests and cant remember any being lower than req 10, req 12 seems to be the most common. Im not chest farming, just opening every one I come across while doing the quests/missions and trying to get 100% exploration. I don't see me maxxing my ID'ed title any time before 2008. *L* Ah well.

Remember you CAN nerf yourself out of drops and chests if you just stay in one area... remember Sorrows Furnace how good it was in the beginning and how poor it got by about the 3rd week? Best thing I do is mix it up some.. Once I start getting a more then ave number of purples instead of golds, (around a 3P/1G ave base) I move to a new area till that happens there and then maybe going back later to the original spot.
Vabbi and Desolation are good areas for good golds and the mods they yield... Torment is very over farmed, so I would EXPECT lousy drops from there...
Try to find areas that re-spawn with 3 or 4 chests that is way the heck out of the way or seldom visited for quests. those have always been lucrative for me. And with 3 chapters now, I have a vast variety of places to go when I nerf out an area of drops or chests.
I'll say this since I was farming Nightfall so much for gold chest and greens, my factions drop rate has significantly improved again... I have not checked The original yet but my instinct is they will be pretty good again too by now.

Today I was chest hunting in Crystal Overlook, and I opened one to recieve a purple chalice, req 11 Inspiration and 52 hp hexed and another mod. The next chest I opened also contained a chalice which was identical in every way minus the second mod on it. How unlucky is that?

yea ive used about margonite keys the past few days..... in hopes of getting an elemental....i heard of sum1 getting a fellblade, and other random things......but all im getting is the same things over n over....and about 1/4 golds... my golds are mainly scythes and wands(which are crap to me) all high req.... only 2 war golds.....a war hammer and a falchion.... 2 decent ranger golds....skull flatbows.... but can any1 confirm fellblades or any other cool stuff out of these chests besides elemental swords? -thanks

Today, I found:

Req 9 gold Banded Spear
a handful of 15^50 mods
+30 hp Scythe mod

and a handful of other awesome items that I can't remember off the top of my head

I've given up with Margonite chests - Ancient and Vabbian are better (and cheaper too).

I get all purples when I do chest runs in Poisoned. So that's definitely not worth it for me.

Dude I love the Poisoned Outcrops! I get more golds than purples and the patrols are always sparce.
One chest made me lol though, it was supposed to spawn on the bridge but it looked like it was INSIDE a fissure. I was still able to get it, but I almost panicked because it was my last chest for r1 Treasure Hunter.
