This build is a variation of an offensive rit lord that dishes out a ton of damage.

Profession: Ritualist/Any
Name: Mighty Spirits
Type: General PvE.
Category: Damage
Attributes:
Communing 15, Channeling 11, Restoration 11/Spawning 11

Pain
Anguish
Bloodsong
Gaze of Fury
Signet of Ghostly Might {E}
Painful Bond
Mend Body and Soul/Heal of your choice/Boon of Creation
Rez/Flesh of my Flesh

The directions will appear somewhat hard to follow so let me explain the concept behind it. The point of this build is to get your spirits to do lots of damage by using Signet of Ghostly Might (hereafter SoGM), and also using Gaze of Fury just before a spirit dies from SoGM to keep the number of spirits around 3-4 at all times. Although SoGM kills a spirit in 10s, if you use Gaze of Fury before it dies, you will get a new spirit of Fury that will last its full duration (52s). You can also use Gaze of Fury on a Spirit of Fury just before it dies to create a new spirit.

SoGM adds +30 dmg to your sprit's attacks for 10 secs, so Pain does 60 dmg, Bloodsong does 55, Fury does 46, and Anguish does 50. The big bonus is from Anguish + SoGM which will do 100 dmg (yep, that's right) per attack on a hexed target. Add in the +17 dmg from Painful Bond and you're talking about some major spike-like dmg. Two of your spirits have a 30s recharge (Pain and Fury) and the other two have a 45s recharge. With proper planning and timing you can have SoGM active on one spirit and sometimes multiple spirits for pretty big damage.

Ideally you want to use SoGM on a spirit about 12-15s before it recharges - this takes some practice. You also want to keep painful bond on foes as much as possible for additional damage.

Start battle by setting up Pain and using Painful Bond on target. Then setup Anguish and Bloodsong. Toss Painful Bond on another target. Use SoGM on Pain. Wait for about 6-7 secs and then use Gaze of Fury on Pain. Re-cast Pain (should be recharged by now). Use Painful Bond on new target and then use SoGM on Anguish. Once recharged use SoGM on Bloodsong. Toss out another painful bond. Use SoGM on Spirit of Fury. Re-cast Anguish. After a couple of secs, use Gaze of Fury on Spirit of Fury. Re-Cast Bloodsong. Use SoGM on Pain. Re-cast Pain. And so on...

I've been playing around with Painful Bond, and if I'm not mistaken which target you put Bond on, your spirits will target it. Therefore, you could coordinate SoGM with Bond to lay out some serious damage on a target.

Personally, I would dump restoration altogether and stick with Spawning Power for energy management and to keep my spirits up longer. Once I cap SoGM I'll play around a bit with it.

No. Unless something changed recently, spirits follow their AI. Painful Bond will not make the spirits hit that target anymore than usual.

I've used Painful Bond a lot and have been dismayed at the seemingly random way spirits target foes. There are plenty of times that a warrior will be beating on me right next to my Wanderlust and it's happy to try and nail an elementalist half an aggro bubble away.

I believe they target the weakest.
That is somewhat of a combination of AL and total health.
I've redirected a spirits attacks by shattering phantom pain on a target.
Someone called it 'Rurik's AI'
The middle talks about spirit's target selection. It still feels iffy though.

Sounds like a nice build. I'll be sure to save and play this build when I bring my Rit to Elona.

None, free and clear

You can use other hexes, including AoE ones. Dulled Weapon is AoE. Was it nearby? In any event, you can use a nearby area hex to make sure Anguish is more useful.

I'm the guy right behind you staring through your head . . . .

So THAT'S what you're supposed to do with Gaze of Fury besides plopping it into a spirit fortress to wreak havoc . . . Nice. Seems decent. I'd definitely say Spawning instead of Restoration, though.
