Thanks Alot Anet, I love you ;) serious.

This is not a flame, or a complaint, I am not complaining about the negativity, I am making a positive post.
Even though there has been a few positive posts, not really a balance between all the incredibly, non-constructive negative posts, there have been a few thank you threads to Anet... this is one of them.
I admit, I was a negative person after the nerf of the 55 necro and other solo builds, but I always say, everything happens for a good reason, and this good reason was nightfall. Thank you alot, I have not finished nightfall story, but I am enjoying myself so much, I have max armor, and made about 15k in about 5 hours of really enjoyable play through the story.
I am not sure if it's worth making a thread about this, I just really wanted to express my thank you to Anet, and not go back a few pages and bump some old positive random threads.
The riverside in needs alot more positive threads, as I read in site suggestion. I'm kinda hoping there is less negative threads after this post. I know we wouldn't be anywhere without a good balance of negative and positive threads, but the negativity recently is quite bad about the nerfs and changes.
I don't regret buying nightfall at all either, I mean, no one is forcing anyone to play nightfall, or to quit gw because of a few skill changes.
Anyway, again, thanks alot Anet for bringing a great game, other people, appreciate the fact that people have bothered to spend time and money to make a game give it no monthly fee. I got my nightfall collectors edition from amazon.co.uk for £12 pounds, but I wouldn't be complaining if it was £50. Anyway,

Although im one of the negative thread guys its nice to see a good balence..
Hopefully anet will look at what both sides have to say about the matter. and make a nice educated decision that can please both sides to a certain extent.
although i would have to agree with you that nightfall is a totaly awsome game.
everything about the game itself is awsome.
as has been said before its the Ai and some other core gameplay issues that need fixing..
But nice thread. I for one am enjoying the new voiceactors. But i did like the dudes voice in the prophecies chapter.. it was the voice actor off an anime called scryed

Wow. I'm glad to see a positive thread like this pop up among the sea of negatives. There really are people out there enjoying and playing the game, too bad that they're busy playing to hear from them.
ANET really has done a good job on this game, it's not perfect but it's nowhere near as bad as some people make it out to be. Keep doing what you're doing ANET.

^ Me too, finally something happy between all those negative posts that vary from: 'I hate you A-net' to 'I stopped playing Guild Wars with all these nerfs' >_> I still enjoy Nightfall, even without the farming

What a lot of people don't remember or were not around for was all the GREAT improvements that have been made in this game since it came out. Do any of you remember having to use points to change your Atts? You were pretty much stuck with whatever you went with. There are always going to be people who complain about this game. Me, I just play and adjust. I'm not Rich, I'm not Rank 8, I'm not wearing FoW Armor. I'm just a decent player with a lot of good friends in my Guild that I enjoy hanging out with. Nightfall is awesome. It has brought a lot of my guildies back to the game. It's a GAME folks. Enjoy it for what it is and don't dwell on what it isn't.

Anyway, I haven't been playing since beta, but I've been around since Refund Points, before SF, about 17 months. I like Guild Wars too. I like most of the changes they've made. I don't like the way PvE is turning into a RA scrub match.
While I agree partially, I also feel that nothing in the game will ever improve if this mentality is taken. Remember the retarded idea of Refund points? Well, people moaned about it, and ANet changed it. Today we have free attribute changes because people were dwelling on what GW wasn't. While people don't like it now, it's generally "complaining" that gets things improved.

Well, my hat is off to the developers of Nightfall. I had grown so tired and frustrated with Factions after completing it.
Nightfall has pulled me back in again. For an idea of how much, I bought NWN2 and have yet to open the box.

Like most of the other poster's here (lol, Mercury you missed a reference :P I took the liberty of deleting me own reference) I agree that Nightfall is great and I loved all the other chapters too (I SHALL take on the title of Fanboi WOOT) Also what is awesome, is that after my net got cut down to two hours a day and after the farming nerfhammer, I have found that if you consistently save your money until you beat the game, from noob to finish then you can affor 15k armor! ^.^ This is refreshing knowing that I can get some P I M P armor by just playing through the game, unlike proph (where money and expensive item drops were scarce) and factions (which was just too short) I finally don't have to farm and grind, even tho I will occasionally, since I just love reaping those little termites and watching them hit the floor RAWR! Anyway, good job bringing up the positive. Oh and S Cry Ed was an absolutely awesome anime, I sadly didn't see all of it but from what I saw it was awesome, Arm that transforms into a gun-like appendage FTW! WOOT

At first, I wasn't going to touch this thread much, beyond absolute necessity, but I've gotten a lot of requests for moderation, and they've been valid.
This thread's gotten a bit personal and off-topic, and those posts, along with the references to those posts, have been removed to put it back on track.
Posts don't have to be gushing with praise, and some remain that are fairly neuter to being slightly critical. This is fine, censorship of 'unpopular' opinions is never a goal of moderation.
But where and how these opinions can be expressed is another story altogether.
Some people will find a few mostly harmless posts removed, and it's unfortunate, but they managed to spawn off into minor disaster, whether the intent was innocent or not. However, as they were not really contributing anyway, I felt it was best to remove them regardless.
No removed posts in this thread as of this point have been counted negatively against users involved.

I'm your average Joe (or would that be Joe-ette) player, and have rolled with the changes through the last 18 months.
If one can learn to roll with the changes, there wouldn't be so many cries of "nerf!". More along the lines of "Cool! A new challenge to find something else that works!"
Adaptability = the survival of GW players.
Thanks OP. Thanks Anet.

I completely agree with Addone, I love the storyline gameplay. I was already in love with GW because of Proph's storyline/gameplay intertwining. (I didn't get a chance to play Factions (yet)) However, in proph, a lot of the side quest were abstract, but with Nightfall, I found myself doing all sorts of side quest without realizing it. So, BIG props to the developers, thank you for creating the storyline environment that helped me fall in love (and addicted ) to Guild Wars.
fenix
What I personally like best about Nightfall, is the hero system. The best bit is that I can go back to Factions and play through, and it will be HEAPS more fun, because I can use custom builds on my heroes, and not worry about bad henchies or bad pugs.

This is my first and only on-line game, and if ANet continues as they have, it will be the only one I ever play. It's been a wonderful nine months for me.
Negative posts have their use. They tell ANet where the problems lie. As we have seen, ANet listens and makes changes that fit their concepts.
But positive posts, while derided by many, serve a purpose also. Positive reinforcement is never wasted.

As another one who has posted on other not-to-be-named threads (sorry )
I like much about nightfall....the scenery is great, the length of the story is just right (not too short like factions).....etc, I have been having a good time (albeit frustrating at times) playing thru this new land.....I am glad I purchased it...and I even bought a copy of the ce for it as well (and recently got a gwp ce too).
If you are waiting for the BUT you will need to read another thread....I am keeping my positive attitude for this one up and running......
I hope that anet reads some of these threads and realizes that players DO like nightfall, we are happy with most of it.....but (sorry had to have it here) I also hope they dont disreguard the opinions of ' the others' either.
One of the things I have liked about this game is the fact that you can interact to some extent with the team that created it----with both positive and negative feedback.....many times things have been fixed for just that reason and I do hope that it continues.
Please anet continue to listen to us and thank you.

hmm, seeing as I have never watched harry potter...I wonder how I quoted him.
And gwp is still my favorite chapter...I like nightfall second and factions, well, I got my 4 gwp characters thru it (2 with protector titles) and 2 of 3 canthans thru it.....dont think my elonians will visit however, but they will go back to tyria (at least for some free skills on my ele). So I am not really looking forward to chapter 4, but with 8 characters now to get thru nightfall I dont think I will be ready when my 6 months are up anyways.
I might be ready by chapter 5 though!

Congrat's and Thanks ANet on making such a brilliant game!
Those who post negatively obviously have strong feelings about your product, and I would take that as a left-handed compliment because you've managed to create an environment that people can get involved in deeply enough that they will take the time and energy to complain when you change some part of their new love in a way they do not like, or, when you make a decision they feel endangers their paramour they become defensive!
In a way...if you think about it...even those negative posts are praise on a job well done!

I find nightfall to be an excellent game.
HOWEVER, I find that the updates have made the previous games no longer any fun. Currently I've been playing through prophecies (with a character born there) and with the changes to AI and heroes, it is becoming impossible to do anything by myself (without relying on guildies). What were once easy missions with hench are no longer, and where once you could get a group, it's almost impossible. I think the simple fact is, while their business model is excellent from a make money perspective, allowing anyone to buy any campaign and jump in, it is terrible for community aspects as it is slowly killing off earlier campaigns, and the trend will continue. We will never have a large influx back to Tyria, just will not happen unless they do something to make it happen. As I read before, I am critical of the game, but that's because I enjoy it so much, it meshes so many of my favorite past times (magic the gathering + diablo 2 anyone?), and I don't want to see earlier sections die off as they are.

I'll start with a confession: until I bought GWP, I did not play RPGs. I disdained the fantasy elements for some reason (although I've read a number of fantasy books that interested me). Prophecies intrigued me upon its release, but I resisted buying it: what if I dropped my 50 bucks for a game that I didn't like?
Instead, I happily played Madden and Need for Speed and Sim City 4.... and played Madden for a LOT of time. A fantasy game? pish.
But I tired of Madden. What to buy? I looked again at GW and said, worth a try.
That was early last spring. Since then, Madden hasn't been booted on my computer. I bought Tiger Woods golf at the same time, installed it...and promptly ignored it.
So I give mad props to ANet for making a game that could hook someone who really wasn't a fantasy gamer, or an RPGer...I didn't even do action games / shooters much. And then Factions came...and that was even more exciting. As I've accumulated hours, I could point to things that I would like changed. But they're minor tweaks.
Then there was Nightfall. What a joy. Right pace, right mobs, right storyline. The Prophecies story was convoluted; I didn't understand the story for quite a while; the factions story was interesting but strained credulity. But NF? well, I'm a revolutionary! what could be more exciting than fighting an unjust ruler interested in armageddon?
My compliments first for hooking me--then for keeping me interested.

Thank you for a very heart-warming thread. It's very kind of many of you to post here, and I know that all of us on the Dev Team appreciate hearing this voice, amongst all those to which we also listen, I promise you.
I was a fan forum moderator, once, long ago in a different life. I appreciate the mods here taking a gentle hand, and allowing this thread to continue without the intrusion seemingly-obligatory negative comments. Honestly, people, nobody claims the game is perfect. Nobody feels that there isn't room for improvement. Nobody pretends that this thread will wash away all the concerns of the world, and that, having read and responded to this, all those dozens of others will somehow be negated.
Please, let's enjoy this thread. Let those of us who love the game--of which yes, I am one--to take a moment to enjoy the moment, if you will.
Thanks.

I could ruin the moment by adding some filthy remarks about the people at Gamespot ripping up the GW universe like no tomorrow; but hey everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. Even though it might take some time to get used to, the criticism. It sometimes sounds like sharp metallic claws on a chalk board.
People should stand back and look at the whole picture besides the one dangling in front of their faces. I will be honest the reason why I enjoy the GW universe so much more then it’s competition, is because of the set up of the whole server system. Many games out there will charge people to play their games by monthly or annual fees, but GW is one of the few that does not. In some ways that takes the cake, I would hate to see games become under the category “pay as you go;” even though the service could be free, but the developer or the publisher decides they want to make a quick buck.
Yes all games have inherited flaws within, but does that make them failures; the answer should be “no” because there is always room for improvement. I’ve been a critic to way the industry has carried itself either by fan or by corporate CEO. A-net as far I can see has fast-paced themselves so far in an equal and unique by taking risks that sometimes can be daunting. As long as you don’t say “we give up,” people will still back you; as whole heartfelt people who were willing enough to bring something verily unique and entertaining to the gaming medium. Congratulation A-team you’ve done it again.

I'm very happy with Nightfall
its the 1st chapter that has inspired me to finish it with all my characters
I've finished NF with 4 chars and 9 more to go!
I like Torment more than Ring of Fire in Prophecies
I love that finishing Nightfall unlocks all the heroes
- Heroes give me *renewed* interest in the other chapters - using Heroes

I absolutely Love Nightfall.
I think the 'wow' factor that Nightfall + Prophecies have that factions doesn't is the idea of being a hero, leading armies throught the game for a great cause. In Prophecies it was you and the other 'chosen', leading First the Ascalonians, then The White Mantle, then the Dwarves etc, In Nightfall it is the Sunspears and the Vabbians, I like the feelingt hat you are the leader of a force acting for something great.
Factions kind of had this with the Luxons and Kurzicks, but throughtout the game it just seemed to me that you were Mhenlo/Togo's sidekicks, and not the real Hero of the game, or the leader of the armies.

I too was never really interested in MMORPG games in the past. I was more interested in the Star Wars series and WW2 games. However Guild Wars had me hooked from the start.
Despite my wife absolutely hating this game (and any computer game actually) I play every chance I get. We have a baby due in mid January and I really don't know if I'll have a chance to play ofter that, so I'm getting my playtime in as much as I can now!

I love this game to death. I'm even trying to persuade my dad into giving me my christmas gift early (it's a new computer). Haven't played Nightfall yet, but excited to try out the new Hero system. However, I'm worried about it also, because from what I've read on the forum, it has been harder to get a party with all humans. Hero system might be cool and all, but I prefer to party with human players.
But everything else with the game is perfect. (Although the numbers of players in previous campaigns has decreased..)

I greatly enjoy the game as well. I used to play several online games, but I put them all aside for Guild Wars. Ok, I still play a few rounds of CS: Source now and then, but I pretty much spend my time playing GW now. If the game wasn't as great as it is I certainly wouldn't have put the time into it. Thanks again A-net.

I've been here from the start and have enjoyed the ride. An Auction House would make this game well rounded.. but i'm in no rush (well maybe a little heh) but the goodness way outweighs the negative. I'm already excited about Chapter 4 eheh is a bit early for that?
