The longer you play, the more succesful you are in PvE, the more expensive sets you can afford. They also serve as a proof of storyline completion, and customization. If any of these conditions isn't met, these armors are inferior by design to what can be purchased from crafters. The only way such armors would fit into GW design, is by branching out the story. Apart from main storyline, you get optional quests (like SF or titan quests). Once you complete all of them, during the final part, the final boss drops (guaranteed 1 per character) set of armor. But looting for armor cannot happen in GW. While some will disagree, it simply goes against core design, just like 8 skills or 200 attribute points. Not only that, but looted armor would not only not display measure of achievement, but a measure of ability to kill a certain mob 500 times. Charr armor - ok, you killed 500 char. Yay! |
