What's next, after defeat of Abbadon?

I think the real question that needs to be answered is: Who are the Xunlia agents, why do they seem to be everywhere? Is there a headquarters for them if so where is it? and the ultimate question, why wont they gives us extra storage

I always expected the next chapter to bring a new map to tyria, i.e. presearing map to postsearing map. Now that Abbadon's dead, we fastforward a few decades. We start with a campaign to clear out the charr, or maybe that seer idea. Then we move on to help cantha again, etc

why do the charr attack south?
there land sucks all burnt and smelly.
mabye bigger nasteir things force them out and titans make it easier for them to accept.
big scary things are slow but v destructive not too organised.
they are getting close to tyria and the charr getting more suicidal / aggresive.
eventually charr dull in attacks and try to negotiate. scouts sent into north only 1 survives!

anet have basically said chpt 4 IS the northern lands, which i assume is N of ascalon. something in the nightfall manual hinted at that i think (forgot where i saw that was it in this thread? lol)
(having thought about things since my last post) i dont think anet will deal directly with charr, possibly they will focus on some threat from the north.(giants??) possibly what drove the charr south. i dont think future chapters will have any direct involvement by any gods. and i dont think they'd re-visit charr as a main storyline.
my bet is North of ascalon norse type themed thats what i want! and they can call it icewindale 3! (ok maybe not)
otherwise they could do something atlantis themed with orr sunk at the bottom of the sea. new race mermaid!
edit: each chapter is based upon a geographical area in our real life world. cantha is east asia, elona is africa/middle east/persia. so youd think chpt 4 will have a heavy theme in that sense, aztec, classical greece/rome, native amercan indian, russian/east european, N european. are some possible ideas.

travel in time i say!, you must travel back in time to kill the vizier, but you manage to unchain dark magic so powerful that wipes all orrians and kills the vizier, so you end doing everything from the begining, and sudenly pop up in pre-searing...

they have planned out ch1 through ch3 before guild wars was even released, thats why everything is connected so coordinated. so ch4 through ch6 will also be done by the time we get to play it. i really wanted to go to another world like from where to seers come from to explore their lore a bit, but it said northern lands, so it would still all be on the same planet. and then i decided mabey ch5 should be a continent floating in the sky supported by magic and some evil person wants to destroy the human lands in ch4 by destroying the pillars of magic supporting the flying continent and having it crash down on ch4's land.
as for ch4 if there is ice, dwarves will no doubt be there, and the imps, ettins, etc. mabey some tribal indians may emerge as new allies or barbarians.
oh and everything so far seems god related troubles, so mabey we have to battle some lesser god that is also pulling the strings on everything like abbadon was.

or maybe guild wars is like star wars where in reality this is chapter 4,5, and 6 and that the next 3 chapters are like a prequal where these events happen.
After you defeated abbadon the new goddess of truth sent you back to elona, but not knowing her true power accidentlly sent you back in time in a completely different place "the northlands" where as soon as you arrive you have amnesia! (Oh noes!)
You are in an area surronded by the vastly powerful giant dwarves fighting against the weak and frail charr. For some unknown reason to you (you have amnesia) you are compelled to help and protect the charr or the giant dwarves will wipe them off the planet and claim the land for themselves. after several missions of spying and fighting you realise that the charr just stink so now your last mission is to help them find a new land to live in. As you help the charr refugees head south the final mission is to defeat the leader of the giant dwarves who is in actuallity the shortest dwarf making him ruler. as you defeat him the charrs rejoice at your braveness and dedication to the charr cause and happily head south to their new homelands unknown to them.
As you see them slowly march away kormir appears and apologises to you for her accident and attempts to send you back. she manages to successfully take you back to elona, however you are in elona a few years into the past! as you are magically teleported to the mirror of lyss, you gaze up at the beautiful Grand Court of Sebelkha and notice at the bottum of the giant round dome in large letters the words "Abaddon wuz here" shocked and surprised at the disgrace of lyssas temple you go to tell someone of this horrible act. As you go up to the Grand Court yourself you see General Morgahn forcing a young teenager varesh ossa to go worship lyssa. So to keep her entertained in her hour of boredom you tell varesh ossa all about your discovery of vandalism. Interested in this rebellious idea she begins to think about Abaddon and who he is until it begins to consume her.

The problem with making the next campaign is they have to keep the timeline relativly parallel, they cant make a story several more years later it would break the timeline of your chars unless the new campaign chars were unable to join in chapters 1-3 and vica versa. Since campaigns 1-3 actually happen virtually at the same up to the point where LA, Kaineng and Kamadan all join together in the timeline. The parts after that the timelines vary a little so in theory the heros from whichever campaign u were, are able to defeat all 3 chapters (Tryia and Cantha endgame timelines finshing before NF ofc.)
The only way to move a character years into the future would be to either make a new one or import you current characters as older/younger versions of themselves into the new/previous saga but having no direct access to the other maps while in the new/old campaigns, unless there exported back.
In doing this the chars would be unable to access items from the future campaigns, but future campaigns would be able to acess past items (since this is allowable since by the time the new chapter occurs the items were presumably still in storage, the same with armour etc.)

I'm hoping for Northlands and new stuff period. Maybe less saving the world and just more, uhmmm, stuff... Work has killed my imagination.

I was hoping there will be a Transition Chapter that act as a prologue to the current chapters. This chapter will recap the loose ends of the current storyline and telling of a side storyline before starting a new story aka. Chapter 4.
This Transition Chapter will be covering the whole of all 3 previous chapters, providing new missions, new unexplored locations at the existing continents, so it comes as a premium to owners of all 3 GW chapters.
In the Tyria, this Transition Chapter's missions will revolve around the pre-Searing Orr, perhaps Kryta and the ongoing Guild Wars between the nations.
In the Cantha, the story will explore the south-western part of Cantha. It will also provide background information on Shiro and his guild, perhaps some diplomatic treaty missions to unite the Luxons and Kurzicks.
As for Elona portion, I am not really sure about it, as I have yet to purchase Nightfall so I do not know what really happen before Varesh's betrayal.
So yeah, that's basically what I wished for. Any thoughts?

Well so far, we've had Guild Wars; Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall.. obviously the next part needs to be Guild Wars; Gwen's Cooking Adventure!
Nah but seriously.. maybe a repeat of the years-old Guild Wars. Guilds ravaging against one another, terrorizing anything that comes in between.
Just another thought

well, taking into acount the fact that anet has also stated the nightfall is the END of the trilogy, imho ch4 will have absolutely nothing to do with the first three (lore-wise), so personally im expecting anything.
P.S. - mark my words, ch4 will not have any new professions

Imperium
Personally, I'd like to see something different in Chapter 4 but keeping within the current GW universe, that is to say, not necessarily not releasing a new area, but keeping hold of all of the lore around it.
My own personal hope is that we can get off of the "save the world" path and maybe have a choice of whether you want to save it or kill it. In fact, I'd LOVE if the next game was about helping Abaddon reclaim his throne, but thats probably not "commercial enough" and Arenanet (while being one of the best and brightest companies out there) probably haven't got the ....errr...strength to pull it off. Save the world, with Hallmark moments again then.
If it IS to the North as Anet have suggested/confirmed, what do we already know about that area?
In fact, I'm gonna start a different thread on that.

ok the Giant idea seems closest, maybe the gods are really decendents of the giants
similar to greek mythology, the titans(greek) where giants and then Zeus took over. AND FOR GOD'S SAKE, HAVE YOU SEEN THE SIZE OF GW GODS??? THEY ARE FREAKIN' HUGE.

With all these ideas...I dont think that Anet will make a story line that goes back in time and tells of the past. I think they will go more in teh future about mabey what happens to the continents or a new continent after all the termoil of Abbadon was vanquished. Mabey once Abbadon was killed civil war broke out somewere or a new race steped up to power. All in all no one knows for sure what to expect and i look forward to the surprise.

You know what, we are putting way more thought and effort than Anet desginers and Devs and Storyboard crew put in their work, lol.

There's too many things left unsolved...could be anything.....
Personally,i'd really like to see the rebuilding of ascalon....make it a few years later like what some earlier posts suggested.Otherwise, venturing further into the north or tht unseen land between tyria and cantha seems to be more logical.

It seems that GW "theology" has the "essence" of a diety and the being that weilds that power & title. The being (the personality. In Abbadon's case, evil) can be destroyed. The "essence" cannot. ie: there will ALLWAYS be a god/goddess of secrets/truth.
It's true, there is not much more in the way of epic battles. You can't really top fighting a friggen god! Honestly if they tried to make something seem MORE important, taht would just be retarded.
Personally, I'd like to se a SMALLER scale. something more local, more detailed & personal. Not everything has to be the end of the universe. Smaller scope can acctually be better.

Just because your domain is death and ice doesnt mean your evil, Death is, afterall a natural part of life.
It doesnt seem at all to me like Grenth is the GW version of Satan, which might be what your relating him too.

lol why are people so obessed with wanted Dhuum and Menzies in the next chapter. With already done the whole Defeat a God thing, time for something new i think.
Besides Menzies is a weak version of Balthazar, after all Balthazar has to has someone to fight for eternity since he is the god of War it might as well be a family member (who better to fight). Dhuum got taken down just by Grenth he could never be a treat since the combined powers of the gods would easily out do him.

The word is we've finished the Abaddon story arc and starting up a new one. So chances are we will be starting with something fairly small scale (albeit still dangerous if left unopposed) that will build up to something bigger in a later chapter.
