Very interesting, I'd suggest swapping stone daggers for grasping earth to counter scatter.
26 Nov 2006 at 18:16 - 9
question-how well does this work with the AI scatter update? do you need to chase them or stone dagger them once they run? or do they run at all?
26 Nov 2006 at 18:49 - 10
Yes, they scatter, but they come back before they're fully healed. Also, there's almost always 3 attacking you and the others attack if those scatter so they practically line up to die. I designed this buid for endurance to last long enough to kill them all. Spamming stone daggers is the only method of healing with this and it can counter degen up to -4. after that you're pretty much dead.
27 Nov 2006 at 06:26 - 11
Nice. I'm bored with classical Ether Renewal earth tanking. I just hope they don't nerf the cool new Nightfall skills before I get around to acquiring them ...
27 Nov 2006 at 18:35 - 12
have you tested this build on vermin? vermin is a bit more profitable than kirin.
Good build. Thanks.

Against trolls, AOR is rather unneccessary. If Stoneflesh is kept up, it'll take a small eternity and a lot of Mighty Blow crits to kill you. I often wound up regenerating most of my health because they couldn't deal any damage in such a long period of time. I tried running a variant of this with arcane echoed sliver armor and it rolls them big time.
Oh yeah, and if they run away to get health back, wand them and they'll come right back to you, immediately!
Mantra of Earth
Stone Striker
Stoneflesh Aura
Armor of Earth
Glyph of Concentration
Arcane Echo
Sliver Armor
Sandstorm

Thanks for the idea. Glad to see people are willing to try something other using monk skills to farm.

thank you for a great build, I use the build to farm smite crawler at UW. Got 3 ectos on my first run.
just bring a prot hero monk to help clear the attaxe, then flag the hero away and kill all the smites by yourself.
30 Nov 2006 at 17:03 - 18
i use:
Mantra of Earth
Stone Striker
Stoneflesh Aura
Armor of Earth
Searing flames
Glyph of lesser nrg
Aura of rest
Sliver Armor/Ward of stab/Glyph of Concentration
I used Searing flame cos haven't capped Sandstorm yet :P, but this works realy well....... and if they run they still burn ;D
Use ward of stab for Hydra's, and Snad ele things out side hero's audince and other knock down ppl

I knew this would be a great build, but i never expected it to become the next dual UW build. Gotta give that a try some day.
01 Dec 2006 at 17:21 - 20
Ok, I tried UW again, but this time I add an SS and healing hero to the prot monk.
The prot monk primary skills are life barrier, life bond, watchful spirit
healing monk for mending, spell breaker
SS<-- typical setup.
With these, you can clear the first part pretty fast, and then flag them away and go for smites yourself.
I wish I can solo the attaxe, but they deal too much dmg without kinetic armor/stone dagger added to my skillset. Armor of earth is not enough.
02 Dec 2006 at 15:27 - 21
Wow this really does make kirin look easy
nice work
Edit: not very fast on the troll front, in fact its very slow...
02 Dec 2006 at 17:13 - 22
Can you take Heros with you into UW?... They can't enter the deep tho.....
03 Dec 2006 at 03:26 - 23
I thought Stoneflesh Aura prevented critical hits anyway?
03 Dec 2006 at 04:26 - 24
Ya I made something very similar, cept I have kenetic and stone daggers like Kess said. Stone daggers for damage and to kill the dying nightmares. No recharge and 1 cast time, insta-kill. I also use glyph of concentration to prevent interupts, that means I cant use crystal wave, but thats ok, Sandstorm does a hell lot of damage.
04 Dec 2006 at 05:25 - 25
Could you post the whole thing? All I'm getting is bits and pieces.
18 Dec 2006 at 08:12 - 26
Id like to post this on Guild wiki, though the build is fairly common, id like to steal the name :P Terra Tank has sucha nice ring!
19 Dec 2006 at 01:48 - 27
So you're the guy who posted it. Thanks for that. And also, now I know how to use it in the underworld. The name came from "terra firma" if you want to know.
Wonder how it'd do in DoA...

This looks suspiciously like the Rihlon Refuge E/Me farmer. Why don't you change one of those skills out for arcane echo to make it absolutely like it?
19 Dec 2006 at 05:10 - 29
Well excuse us....that build was posted on Dec 15th. This came out Nov 26th. I think its the Rihlon Refuge E/Me farmer that, "looks suspiciously like this build. Why dont you change Arcane echo for one of these skill to make it absolutly like it?

"

Why don't we learn about calendars and dates instead? If a build was posted in November, why are you insinuating that it copied something from the future? I didn't see any skills that make you go 88 MPH.
Anyway, nice build. I read little ideas about this being thrown around pre-Nightfall, but this is the first time I've actually seen it be put to use. Congrats.

Took the words right outta my mouth.
20 Dec 2006 at 05:08 - 32
Oh btw Prime, you forgot to mention the kirins and ice imps in the farmable areas list.
20 Dec 2006 at 08:12 - 33
Sorry I dont farm those, i dont know where they are, you can always add it yourself. if you dont have an acount or dont know how to, just tell me where they can be found. That goes to anyone else too, if you know areas to farm, add them.
20 Dec 2006 at 21:22 - 34
dont have, nor do I know how
The kirins are outside maatu keep in cantha (pongmei valley exit) and the imps are outside of ice caves of sorrow in the southern shiverpeaks. Try the kirins in you have factions, they pay well.
20 Dec 2006 at 23:14 - 35
oh nvm lol. I didn't see this one I guess. ^^

Ok all done.

I read the discussion page. Dang shame no one cares to think beyond mystic regen. (why bother, you dont get hurt and natural regen takes over). And sandstorm does plenty of damage. Besides, without Mantra of Earth, the energy engine and a good deal of dmg reduction is gone. Mind you, I have nothing against the E/D build, but comparing an anti-damage build to an anti-degen build is like comparing apples to oranges. Considering it needs no outside form of damage dealing, (ex. SS or famine) it does its job well.

So do you mean that kinetic+armor of earth can significantly take down and even tank the aataxe dmg? I haven't gotten to try this thing out (just found it a while back) because of the christmas event, and even afterwards i'll have to farm some plats up for skills and the like. Great build Metal, the only source of dmg i could come up with myself with a stone striker geo tank was daggers and silver armor (same as earth renewal geo tank). Never thought of using an aoe to do the dmg such as Sandstorm. Crystal Wave is a nice finisher =]
