no none of them will be expansions also because this starts a new storyline and has nothing to do with the abbadon series

There is really no reason for their not to be a chapter 4 unless you like to follow the complaints of Nightfall has grind,Anet are going downhill,AI sucks ect....just dont listen
Dj Tano
Well imo i hope that if guild wars "4" comes out, it will not be just a new guild wrs (same game, just new island and story) but it will be a whole new game.

The Belgium games magazine PC Gameplay announced in the news section that Nightfall players can take their time; Chapter 4 will be released in august 2007, and not in april.

Count to Potato
gives me time to beat the game with 8 characters, unlike factions

I think they need to do something big in gw 4. Something that will attract a lot of newer people too. Everything seems kinda empty in guild wars because it's spread out into 3 chapters. It's now harder to get into groups without getting henchies.

Wait...no. Anet said it would be released April 2007. But if what your saying is the truth...that means I have to go a year without another expansion.............which isn't good.
If it truly is released next August, Anets going to be losing alot of players in between this gap.
But then again....its a Belgium gaming magazine..... and magazines always get stuff wrong.

Like someone else already said, the game is already too spread out now and it's hard to get a good group. These chapters really don't do anything for the veteran players but give them something to do for a month. They need to add more things to do, more arenas, a trader. Stop coming with the same stuff already and fix what's broken.
Mr Jazzy
Yeah, why would they stop?
I was hoping the 4th chapter would be an Orr-based game, but some people say guild wars is starting a whole new trilogy. (probably same gods)

according to ALEX WEEKES a short time ago chapter 4 was started at or about the same time Factions was released and was completely on schedule for the expected end of April 07 release date.
a foreign game said that and you believe it?
maybe something was lost in the translation

I know it's incredibly boring, but I can only repeat what Gaile has said when asked about rumours in the past: Until we confirm something, don't set your heart on it being true. If it's a rumour, chances are it's going to be wrong. That's the way these things go, a lot of the time. Someone will talk about something they'd *like* to have, and overtime as more people talk about it it gets twisted into "I heard they are going to do this..." __________________ Alex 'GhostRaptor' Weekes Guild Wars Community Relations NCsoft Europe |

I want to play BEFORE propechies, while the Gods still ruled Tyria. When the world was still under construction. That would be awesome.
And maybe a forgotten profession that get his powers straight from the gods, and the story is about real heroes who helps the gods in creating Tyria, until they build Ascalon. Someone agree?

this is the problem with "expansions" and "standalone new campaigns"
u will never see an ign/gamespy/gamespot/pcgamer score of a first game (eg guildwars profecies) with the expansion getting a better score *unless the first had lower score because of bugs, which were removed for the 2nd game)
simply because people expet MORE, and not just MORE, but MUCH MORE, with profecies people wanted "another gw" after factions they wanted "another gw, but not the same, something special (heroes?)" now they want something more more more more which isnt that easy unless u call it GuildWars 2
so dont

If the next release is just another "chapter" I won't be buying... Anet is really gonna have to come up with something new to get anymore money out of me...
I got bored with nightfall two weeks after I bought it... it's the same damn game as prophecies, just a bunch more boring ass quests, and it was short as hell compared to prophecies.
Unlike nightfall though, prophcies is still enjoyable for me. I tried bringing an ele through elona after I went through with my warrior... I haven't played the game for a week.
This whole "saving the world" bullshit is getting old. Pve endgame content is laughable... and I have yet to really take an interest in pvp. I've come to a point where I would rather just play CSS all day then spend two hours in GW, because thats about as long as I can tolerate the game now.

Well, you can, but it hasn't anything to do with the campaings we have now.. A kinda new game, or something.. Expansion, just to learn about the Gods and the creation of the world.. I think it would have been a great story.

GW (all three chapters) included is an RPG (role playing game). In my experience (started with pen/paper D&D), RPGs consist of
1. overlying main story
2. individual quests that require multi-member parties
3. decision-point quests that move the main storyline along
So, as ANet is coming out with a new RPG, how different do you expect it to be? I think that overall they are satisfied with the basic game rules. All that will change will be the setting and end goal.
You can buy a different company's new RPG instead and find yourself wishing you were back in GW. (Although the new one might not even be titled GW.)

I too want GW4 to be about the Orr. But I want it to take place after the events of the other games. Mainly because playing an entire game as a past event would be awkward. The Orrian viziers seem to be very unlucky fellows. *lol* Anyways...It would be nice to be able to gain the favor of gods other than Balthazar. Orr is the perfect place to introduce a new system of faction based on the Gods.

Actually, I would love to see an entirely new storyline. You could only stretch a storyline so far. d=
I would love to have Anet completely shock us with a new threat to the Tyria, Cantha, Elona world. [ while making little references of course ]

What I would llike to see is a new lanscape over the old one. Ascalon rebilt, new ascalon completed or abandoned for rebuilt, the Krytan royal family re-established. The Deldrimor won the civil war.
The Am Pha and the Jade Knights defeated, the afflicted gone.
Something that says the we the players accomplished something.

I'd like to keep my character too, but we need to do something new with them and bring all the players together in one area, if the 4th chapter is just a whole new continent, there will be like 5 people in each town....
Rurik Jangeer
The answer lies withint the Mists, my friends!
Imagine, at the beginning of the brand new shiny CH 4, things begin to happen. The only-too-recently saved world is growing ill. The heroes who so valiantly saved not only Tyria, but Cantha and Elona as well now must find the source of this strange new threat. (Don't know what it should be, make one up! ) The Gods come down upon the heroes, and explain to them the problem. The Lost Kingdom of Orr. As we all know, Orr was lost before Prophecies occured, but that is of little concern to the Gods. Scooping up our heroes without a word they wisk us off into the Mists. Yep, the Mists. The "God Realm". The heroes wake up in a gigantic castle in the middle of Orr itself. Ascalon is standing proud and tall, and the Shiverpeaks and Kryta are all pre-proph.
From then on out we go about reversing the damage done to our past or W/E. This could either lead them through all three games of the new series or just one, but I believe that eventually a drastic change such as the Mists must be involved.
I am in no means saying, "No more new continents!" NOT AT ALL!!! GET THAT STRAIGHT! I just feel that to continue being successful Guild Wars needs things shaken up a bit. Maybe, make CH 4 its own storyline, and just excessively long? That probably won't happen but its an idea. I am in full favor of trilogies, but again, to keep the player base something new must be done.
If I had my way, A-net would continue making new and innovative games just as they have done with Factions and Nightfall, but I can't have my way. What I'm trying to say by all of this is, I guess I'll be happy with anything that A-net throws my way as long as it's labeled "Guild Wars CH __" and feeds the addiction, but I feel that some of the player base won't. Guild Wars needs a change, but it can't lose the feeling of being a Guild Wars game.
Apologies if that made no sense, I know I kind of rambled on a bit. It's late, and I'm trying to portray my ambivalency about this whole big change people are talking about.
Bottom line, Guild Wars needs a change for the player base, but for God's sake, keep it Guild Wars A-net!

I also think that Guild Wars 4 needs to be completely different. I have finished Nightfall once and I can't be bothered playing through it again because it's boring. I'd rather play Prophecies.
Until the next big update its OBLIVION FTW.

Agreed 100% with Rurik, Guild Wars need a change but keep it Guild Wars.
