olias at consulate docks

An odd thing happened when my Tyrian ranger did the consulate docks mission. Olias performed as a minion master, and was very helpful, and I beat the mission easily. What was unusual, was that I had equipped him with only blood magic skills, like Well of Power, and Well of Blood. He kept raising minions, and I kept checking his skills, but he had no minion related skills at all. I have an elementalist that finished the game with Olias as mm, and maybe the two Olias heros skills became confused somehow. The rangers Olias did no more minion raising after that mission, and now uses only the skills he is equipped with. Anyone ever hear of this before?

The npc Lonai is a MM

There's an NPC in there that functions as a minion master as soon as you get past the initial uniting of the battle fronts. If you pay attention to the dialogue you'll see one of the people following you asking the other for some "reinforcements" (minions).

It's a bit odd that Lonai has never raised any minions for me. I was expecting it after reading the dialogue and hanged around near the corpses for awhile, but nothing. No improvement on that during any of the other Consulate mission runs either.

this is weird....the first time i did that mission she was using the elite Jagged Bones, and when i went back to it for master she was equipped with Ravenous Gaze instead..

I think this mission had (has?) some bug.
When I did this mission for 1st time (long time ago) with my "fresh new" dervish character, MM npc was working, and minions were rising.
Then there was some long time period - I was finishing game with dervish.
After that I did this mission with my Tyria/Cantha chars to travel to mainland - MM NPC didnt work - also, at the final scene, Varesh char was invisible - there was her talk and all, but I cant see her there (I remember she was in final cutscene when I was doing this mission with dervish)
Today I was caping paragon elite and went to check MM NPC - worked again! But I didnt check if Varesh appeared back...

I've had Varesh not appear either. I kept trying to see if my 20 minions (olias and me) had killed her or something...but nope she just wasn't anywhere...

Not sure what triggers Lonai to come with the group, must be a bug. Sometimes she comes, and the other times she just stays at the docks.
Also, Varesh hasn't been appearing in the final cutscene either. It's just a disembodied voice.
A shame, since it's a rather cool scene.

Yesterday, I did the mission with Olias as mm and Lonai was raising minions too. My goodness, there were so many minions it was getting ridiculous
Needless to say, the Kournans were trounced...
As for Varesh, she was having fun with Abaddon in ROT and just talking out of the altar

Lonai has never raised anything in the 5 times I've done that mission. Across 3 characters.

But when I played with my Tyrian and Canthan characters, she never does.
I think we're starting to see a trend here...

Lonai and the other NPCs may not follow you if you run off ahead of them too quickly. I had to go back and get them so they would follow me because I wanted my free minions.

I had both things happen to me too. First, I had Olias set up as MM but I noticed that he seemed to have many more than 10 and that some of them looked different. Then I saw that half of them were following Lonai.
The last time I beat the Consulate Docks mission, Varesh didn't appear in the cut scene for me either. It looked like the camera wanted me to look up on the stairs, but I couldn't see here and didn't realize it was a bug.
