Right now the friend list is always sorted by name, which is fine for most situations... But it becomes very annoying once you reach your friend list limit and need to add new people. You then choose who do you want to delete, but don't remember who many people are and why you added them.
If you were able to sort them by date logged on, you could just see those who didn't log for 3 months for so, and know these are safe to delete from your list without losing anyone you recently talked to.
