if everybody is whining about the damage it causes, then just ask a.net reduce its dmg.

but have you wondered why no one is running spirits nowadays? if you look at why a.net removed the spammability of spirits, its because there are no counters to spirits back then. now only single spirits of each type can be summoned which can be killed by 2-3 hammer attacks and they introduce an AoE skill that makes spirits worthless. now tell me the problem is not the purpose of it but the damage that it makes.

Spiritual pain is perfect just the way it is. Mesmers needed an offensive skill that wasnt as gay as eburn and did decent damage. If you havn't also noticed, its got a 30 sec recharge. 10 ene along with a 30 sec recharge makes the dps not sting as much.

Spiritual Pain is the strongest non-elite AoE spell in the game before you even consider the conditional effect that basically makes spirits unplayable.

DPS was never in the question...Mesmers aren't for pressure damage, thats why you have warriors on your team.

10energy and a 30 recharge is the norm for Dom Mesmers, who quite commonly have most of their bar filled with skills with 20+ recharges.

Really the only thing out of proportion with Spiritual Pain is its cast time. Theres a reason that basically all of the Dom mesmer skills worth using have 2-3 sec casts. Either they make it 2 sec cast, or bring its dmg so low its worthless in all regards, and I fear they'll choose the later >_>

I say up the cast time to 3 seconds.

Maybe lower damage to nonspirit foes? (As in if it targets a nonspirit foe.)

Maybe if hits more than 1 target = cost 5 aditional energy (like Starburst/Healing burst)?
