Im looking at these 2:

Gainward BLISS 7800GS+512mb AGP DVI-DVI Golden Sample- €350

Gainward GeForce 7800GS 256MB GDDR3, AGP8X, "BA7800GS-256-GS-TV-DD-GS" €290

besides the 256mb memory and €60 odd is there any difference in these cards?

Links to each card would be nice. And the RAM does make a nice difference. However, with an AGP card, 512MB is overkill. AGP can't keep up with that much data, so that, at least to me, seems wasteful. I wouldn't buy a Gainward card though. Go with Asus, eVGA, BFG, or MSI. Just my 2 cents.

I've have the gainward 7800GS+ since february and can tell you that the card totally rocks, plays GW like a dream and all my other stuff on full detail no problems.

There is one major difference between the 7800gs+ and the 7800 apart from the memory. The 7800GS+ is actually a 7900GPU just named differently for Gainward. That means that the 7800GS has 20 pixel pipelines and the 7800GS+ has 24, also the GS+ runs at higher core speeds and memory speeds.

Basically the 7800GS+ is the best AGP card available, you want better? You gotta upgrade to PCI Express.

Check out the forums on Guru3d.com for loads of discussion on this card.

You will definitely see a difference in gaming go from a 5600 to a 7800gs, I had a 6200 and went to the bfg 7800 gs oc (256mb), runs pretty good, but pci-e cards costs less and run faster, ill eventually upgrade (mobo..), but for now, oblvion, bf and gw run good as is.

This link is a good place to start when buying a video card. It breaks down the best bang for the buck and even separates it into dollar ranges (i.e. less than $100, under $150, etc.)
