Does modding order affect price?

Hi, I have always wondered about this - does the order of mods affect price/value? For instance, if you have:

Sundering Uber Weapon of Fortitude (Req. 8)
15>50
20/20
+30hp

Would that be worth more than say:

Sundering Uber Weapon of Fortitude (Req. 8)
15>50
+30hp
20/20

Also, now we have inscriptions, what's the order to mod it in order to make it look the best on an item so as to maximize the price/value?

Any ideas?

P.S. I subscribe to the school of thought that perfect mods do in fact add to the sale value (about 50% of mod value) of an item that's worth modding.

From my experience, the order in which the mods show up on the description of the item have nothing to do with the value of the item.

I understand that to people for which 'perfect' stats matter this would be important, but for the life of me I can't imagine it affecting the price of an item.

"Come on, take 5k off the price - look how you've messed up the order of the mods!"

I mean, i'm pretty picky when I can afford what I want, but thats just silly. =)

Personally, I don't see it affecting the price that much, either; however, I find myself more inclined to buy an item that is modded in the "correct" order. And less demand translates into lower price, so if people do in fact feel this way, the price of "incorrectly" modded items will be lower.

considering that the merchant value is often lower then the in-game value:
does this matter?

Huh? Not sure I follow your logic. We're talking about trading between players, of course the merchant doesn't care.

I'd pay a bit more if the weapons had mods that I actually use. Saves me the time of looking elsewhere. I never cared for the order of the mods, because it doesn't affect the how the weapon is labeled or it's stats. I haven't seen a Fortitude Uber Weapon of Sundering yet. Nor do I get more fortitude when it's the first mod.

Call me picky, but I do prefer my hilts be added before my pommels etc. i.e:

Generic Weapon of Purchasedness
15^50
10% Furious <-prefer the furious/zealous/etc to be here.
HP +30 <-prefer the HP/armor/whatever mod be last.

Would I be willing to pay more for this weapon instead of one modded in "reverse" order? A little. Maybe 1-3k more. Nothing insane though.

It doesn't matter to me at all.. And I guess many players will agree

The monsters in game however.. They might disagree.. they will be more scared of 20/20 then of +30hp might break aggro earlier if you put the 20/20 before the +30hp..!

No seriously, why would I care in which order the mods are? I just care about the fact that they are there...

In a word, yes.

Perfect is perfect, I could care less is the staff wrap mod is listed before the staff head. It's not like we've got much more than our backpacks to keep stuff stocked up so when you do put these things together it'll all 'fall together' in whatever order you'd like to see.

But for the record, I suppose that the mods should always have appeared in the same order, regardless of what mod got put on when. It'd make everything appear alot neater and people wouldn't have to re-examine every weapon to make sure it was 'perfect'. It would also be very handy to have a set order on things like staves where the owner would be working up to making a perfect health staff. For example I have a collector's blood staff that has a +30 health and a +29 health on it. I'd like to perfect it with a +30 hale,...o wait,...a +30 wrappi,...no no, it's a hale staff head i need, i'm sure,...but when did i last have a +30 wrap? I still have the staff to this day, and have upgraded the hale staff head to a +30 twice on it, always having forgotten that it was the wrap that I needed. Had mods always had a set order, I'd never have made these mistakes.

Uhm, when you replace a mod on a weapon, you get a preview saying what the new weapon would look like right? didn't you notice that the +29 stayed at 29 and didn't went up to 30?

It matters to me. You'll never find a weapon in my inventories with the suffix before the prefix. Why? I don't know.

Like the other person said, with Nightfall came your solution. You can preview it before upgrading, or try to salvage it before hand and look at the mods in that window, then cancel.

Eitherway works and lets you see which mod is which.

Yeah you guys are right. With Nightfall came the solution and we don't have to second guess anymore when we make our upgrades, didn't think about that when I wrote my post. Still though, having the mods always appear in a set order would make things a bit more tidy to me.

There are a couple here that aren't quite getting what we're saying. We're not saying that some swords appear as a 'Fortitude Gothic Sword of Sundering', but the mods down under that don't appear in any set order.

I would love it if Anet introduced a set order so that regardless of which mod was applied first the prefix always appeared before the suffix. Totally agree with both Milias and Ozric. As a trader I come across people all the time who are increadably fussy about the order which mods appear on any weapon, and even now with sheilds (nightfall skins) I have had people say on numerous occassions " I would buy that but I would have to put the mods in the right order can you come down on the price".....

In short, If you are using a weapon then no it obviously doesnt matter, but sadly if you are selling it then sometimes it does...
