Shrine Blessing Balance
countesscorpula
Ok, I've been beefing about this with my guildies for a while, so i figured i'd bring the issue up here as something that could be fixed.
In the game as it stands, a player can go to a shrine of one of the gods and receive a blessing. There are a variety of blessings at each, the details you can find elsewhere. The part i find to be unbalanced is the way they are distributed in relation to the various professions.
Warriros/Assassins/Monks/Ritualists/Mesmers/Rangers/Necromances
All these professions only need to pay 150g to raise ALL their attributes.
Elementalists/Paragons/Dervishes
Need to pay between 600g and 750g to raise all their attribute scores by one.
This does not strike me as being balanced and/or fair. It's not like eles make more cash than others, nor do paragons only use one of their attributes.
I have three proposed solutions to this problem:
1) reduce the cost of raising a single attribute (as experienced by the three noted above).
2) Increase the reward of those who only benefit in one attribute (either increased duration or higher attribute gain). After all, if one fella gets 4 attribute points for 150, is it so bad that another gets 2 atts, limited to one type?
3) Re-assign which gods give which rewards. This may upset those who are much into the Pantheon and how certain professions are linked, but this isn't held to that much in the first place (Smite monks were supposed to pray to Balth for assistance, but this wasn't implimented).
EDIT:
Option 4 inspired by Mylon...
4) Remove all blessings of the gods from all shrines in all campaigns. This would ensure that no one profession has any advantage over any other. It would kind of be like not having favor all the time. (Insert jokes about Europe having perma favour here)
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((SPOILER)))))))))))))) )))))))))))))
As far as the third one goes, there are 5 gods currently in operation and 10 professions. It would seem fair to split them up accordingly. I leave the creative reasons behind any move to the brilliant and creative writers employed by Anet. The next chapter will likely have an additional 2 professions, but we have a new god to take them on too, so the balance can be maintained easily. Well, you can see which solution i lean towards, but the first two are also acceptable in my book.
Feed back in part or on the whole is welcome.

PS I actually have a character slot devoted to each of the ten professions, and play them all fairly equally.

Not only they ae unbalanced:
In Tyria they only give +2% moral and +3 regen bonus.
In Cantha they don't give blessings for Paragons and Dervishes.

I'd say go with the one where it divides the cost. It's just a bit late to re-divided the professions between the Pantheon. But either an extra bonus or divided cost would be fine with me.

like, what you're asking is for the devs to go back and basically have to redo all the priests for all the campaigns with the advent of a new chapter. Now, I agree that this would be cool, but i'm just clarifying, thats basically what it comes down to, since if you were to balance one set of shrines, it would behoove you to do the same to the others.

If people wish to retrograde the shrine blessings back to prophecies, that's another topic. I'm talking about fairness in these blessings.
At present, Dervishes have to visit 4 different shrines to up all there attributes, and paragons have to visit 2(?). While Assassins, Ritualists, Mesmers, Warriors, Rangers, Necromancers, and monks only have to visit one to raise all attributes. In addition, the cost to raise these attributes is also unbalanced. PLEASE examine this issue. It is exceedingly unbalanced in PvE... not that people often care about balance in PvE, but it does have an effect.
PS the poor Eles have to see all 5 avatars to boost all attributes, though most dont necessarily set up a build to use more than two (3 max) different attribute lines). Please reconsider your thinking when it comes to the gods and their blessings.
PS, on a personal note, I get angry, very angry, when i'm playing my dervish and i see a shrine. I know that if i go there, the best i can do is one little attribute for the same price my necro gets four. It drives me up the freaking wall everytime. I go away, forget about it, log in as my dervish, and rage all over again. The game loves to state how it strives for balance and fairness (and why shouldn't it... it's a game not real life). Please put some effort into making this fair too.

Mylon
I never bothered with any of the blessings. I'm like... If you gotta pay to get an edge in PvE then you're obviously doing it wrong!

Ok, so get rid of all the shrine blessings. Mylon says they serve no purpose, so we would all be better off doing without them. I suppose that's the fairest solution of all. They only get a meager blessing in tyria, and though elonians can travel to cantha, the avatars won't recognize them or any needs for divine assisance. So, to make things even all around, we should simply get rid of the favor of the gods at the PvE shrines. Great idea Mylon. That would definately solve this problem. Personally, I enjoy (don't need, but enjoy) the blessings, but if this is your solution, I would be happy to amend the original post to include removal of the blessings entirely as a 4th option.
Either way, in its current condition it's like a GW version of Animal Farm...
All Professions are created equal, but some professions are more equal than others.

I did notice this, I just never found it a big deal. But I see your point.

So here i am, bumping this thread, because it still bugs me to be playing one of the "lesser" professions when i pass a shrine offering blessings.
the math again...
most professions 4 attributes = 150g
the lesser professions (derv/para/ele) 4/5 attributes = 600g/750g
Not much in the way of fairness/balance.
Dougal Kronik
Just get rid of the profession bonuses and have all shrines (on all continents) offer only the +2% Morale boost and +3 regen bonus.
Tempy
and maybe some consistency across the campaigns for the morale boosts...Tyria is party wide still.
