henchmans on elona elite mission?
lavertan
Well.. i had hope there will be henchmans on this mission but there aren't. So i ask WHY??? Why we can't go with them to UW or FoW. Why they aren't on factions elite missions. Why they arent on elona elite mission. It will be cool to enter to the game and just go there with henchies. Sometimes playing witch henchies (SOMETIMES - NOT ALWAYS!) is better and easier thay playing witch peoples.
Knightsaber Sith
Maybe they decided that the elite experience within the elite mission would be spoiled with hench.
Zinger314
Henchmen would be useless anyways. No Lightbringer's Gaze FTL.
lavertan
Henchmens aren't so useless. Probably it will be too hard to do all quest and other stuff there but i farmed my Lighbringer title with them and they fought well. I also make whole campaign only with them (including all torment mission) and they fought well also.

Yep, all of nightfall with them. Masters on most missions (including gates of madness. though I wasn't really trying for masters on any of them). I bet I could at least get a little bit into the areas, at least enough to kill some margonites, get some drops, and have some fun.
It's not a big deal to me, I can do without the content (well, I really want Razah but maybe one can purchase the gemstones needed and not need to fight something bad to get him, and I can always try and PUG it for how ever many hours that will take). But I'm not in an organised guild and am never going to be. I do not have the time, nor the inclination to submit my gaming experience to a collective. It would be nice to not have to find a PUG that will take me - and Dervish hate goes right on through to there. Nor do I see it going away anytime soon.
Eh, the rest of the game is quite fun and I pretty much do without UW and FoW anyway (same problem) and can not get into the factions elite missions either, just add another area in the list. I still have ToPK and SF. Also if the henchies are useless than I see no reason to deny me access to them. It's my choice if I want to go in with a very inferior team and never be able to make it. However, I rather suspect that they are not there for fear that it will be like many other missions - lots of the better players either going with guildies or using heroes/hench and Anet wants to force at least two humans to play together.

ummm...i'll take that bet
Count to Potato
Anguish hard enough, henchies just make it worse, heroes to believe it or not...

I'd rather see them up the hero limit in pve to 7 than add hench to elite areas.

I think the real problem here is that Nightfall - up to this point - does everything it can possibly think of to discourage you from playing with other people. Naturally, being thrown in the deep end again only for the hardest missions in the game is going to seriously break people's stride.

At first I felt the same way. I have grown attached to the ability of a group in my pocket.(hero's and henchies) And, after my 1st pug group be Wiped off the planet,(Make the the 1st 10 XD) I questioned this also. I was upset, and I did post on the forums and said" It's just no fun". Now, after hours of messing with it, I regret ever saying it. It has been awesome talking to guildes, meeting people, and coming up with builds, and counters to the DoA. It has been a blast. I have made progress also =), I successfully killed a few mobs of Margonites in the City place.
Anyways As Zinger314 said, They have no use here anyways.
Have Fun, Good Luck!

To be fair - I do understand requiring the elite quests to require humans - it wouldn't bother me *that* much if they excluded heroes also.
Just, personally, I absolutely hate grouping with people. I have 15 months in game and I have made something like 5 groups - most of them pre-sear to get rez sig. So, in my case, it isn't that Nightfall "spoiled" me - I would have henched the whole thing anyway.
As much as many want to force groups of humans I want the ability to hench it. Though I have had enough experience in software design to recognize that personal wants are usually a quick path to commercial failure. I do not know which way is "better", I just know which I would prefer. To make any decision more than that I would really need to see server logs, at the least pay attention to long term trends (for instance, I wouldn't make much of a decision for a little while. If participation in the elite area really flags I would add henchies).
With a little bit of work I have been able to kill one or two mobs with a four man hero group. I figure if I can do that then an 8 man group would do much better. Some are places where people are complaining about their 8 man PUG not being able to kill anything.
So, yes, I tend to think he would loose that bet also. There was a thread a while back about what henchies (not heroes mind you) were capable of. One person got mission/bonus on every desert and Ring of Fire mission in the game. Not just with henchies (I've done that) but with his character having no skills and no attribute points at all (screenshots to prove it).
I can not say how many times I've seen "can not be done with henchies" and not only have I done it, but normally didn't even find it hard. And I do not think I am much good - no way I could come close to something like in the paragraph before. I do not see how it was possible, but the person did it. There is something to be said for a group that works together towards a common goal even if their skills do not mesh well. Given that I can have three that *do* mesh well, well I wouldn't bet against me (or especially another experienced hench player) to die.

I love it.
People finally group together and stick their heads together to think of solutions etc.

Figure out how to do something only with henches and heroes is cool also..

I really think it's much more enjoyable to think of a way how to do it with 8 people, instead of just you. It's the same as playing chess versus a computer. It's nice for practice, but it's just so much more fun to play versus a human being.
lavertan
Anyway it's not a main subject of this thread. If everywhere else are henchmans i really want see them on elite missions. They are also usefull if u don't have a lot of time. If u make a party with people u can't go away in the middle of mission (well.. u can but i won't do that), so henchmans will be cool then.

THe Elite missions within Factions will have a way to get to them soon as Gaille Gray has said. This update that opened DoA was something that they planned on putting in but it wan'tready for the retail launch of Nightfall. If you can find a good guild I think that getting a team to go into DoA will be more fun and you might have a better experience. Out of the guild I am in' one other and myself were the only ones who, up until last night, had finished Nightfall./ To be able to get a full team of players in DoA the 2 of us helped out some of our guildmates finish the last 2 missions (Shiro is easy if you keep him blind). Now we can go into DoA without worry because we are helping out our mates to get to a point where they can go into it. Doing this is actualy quite fun. The area was not meant for henchmen as most if not all of the enemies are lvl 28+.
As far as Skill trainers and Rune traders don't your guilds have those, if not just take a trip to any outpost as they usualy have them (the major ones at least). They are not needed within DoA in my opinion.
According to Gaille Gray there will be an easier way to get into the Factions Elite missions in a pending update so we just have to wait.

Yes, ofcourse you can just go somewhere else. There's also one in the Gates of torment. It's just a pain to map out if you have a full party. I'd have added a skill trainer there.

The hench are not in the elite missions/areas because they are far superior to most pugs, which would make the elite areas too easy, however in a pug the game suddenly becomes challenging.
lavertan
I can't agree. Try to do whole The Deep with henchmans. Impossible.
nephilim
With heroway it could be possible, just because heroes can be tailored a bit more to respond to the threats you'll see in DoA.
IMO, it's to discourage solo runs of the area with only AI (or very little). Hell, just cuz you could do most of NF solo (with hero/henchies) I think a whole lot of people need to socialize and get something going, rather than complain about the AI not being there for you anymore.

Yea but i don't want socialize:P However i stand today on this mission and looking for group for hm 20 minutes? and guess what? nothing. Thats why i like henchies. They never reject invites:P

I think people shouls always be able to choose between people and AI to play.
ALWAYS
ValaOfTheFens
Henchies are good for distracting mobs while you and your Heroes sneak away. *lol* ANet probably just wants to push PUG's on us, guildie togetherness, or maybe they want people to make some really good one man builds so they know what professions to nerf next.

There are players who love to play in human parties and there are players who prefer to lead a party of heroes/henchmen. I won't mind adding elite missions for player only parties, if also the opposite happens: adding elite content for hero/hench only parties. Unfortunately that never happens...
