Monking and Lightbringer

Now unlike most professions monks are gear towards healing. Have you ever join a group where they expected you to have the skill Lightbringers Gaze.

My point of discussion being, would you as a monk or when looking for monks. Ever expect them to have lightbringer. Because personally I find the thought having any lightbringer skills erroneous since most monks time is spent monitoring a party and supporting them. And most monk builds use up all 8 skill bars.

Note: This is a discussion between monks and whether the usage of lightbringer skills is necessary. Any flaming and I will report you.

I'd say that using Lightbringer's Gaze would definitely help the party's damage out, but it would distract the monk from his primary job: healing. Hero monks would be able to switch easily, but they can't get Lightbringer's Gaze!

Switching to focus on an enemy target takes focus away from the party. It could actually do more harm than good to a party is a monk uses lightbringers gaze. While skills like Lightbringer Signet are good, however in most monk builds the elite spot is normally taken by some other elite that is important to the functioning of their build.

It's not really as difficult as it sounds. If you have 5 energy to spare and no one is under heavy fire, just hit Target Priority and pop off a Gaze. It won't require any attribute investment and most PvE monk builds have at least one optional slot that you can fit it in. The skill is just too good to pass up.

I think you put Lightbringer's Gaze on your bar no matter what your profession or supposed role is. If they want to make a skill that ridiculous, you use it. C+space it if that's all you can manage, it doesn't matter.

Peace,
-CxE fully agree there. most bars @ pve only take a few skills to be effective anyways, so a gaze always has the space.

Agreed. Not having any problem with not having to heal back about 500 damage because I just interrupted 2 eles.

It does reduce your effectiveness a bit when you are expected to bring a resurrect, and now an attack skill too in PvE. Means you only have 6 slots instead of 8. But it is worth it. I would definitely bring it if you want a master reward for a hard mission for example.

I seriously think that a monk with lightbringer is retarded but if you have an extra space then its alright.

How is a monk with Lightbringer's Gaze "retarded?" It's one of the most amazing damage skills in the PvE game, considering it does high AoE damage with low cost and recharge and it's unlinked. What PvE monk build really needs every single one of its eight skill slots to do its job? Monks need all their slots in PvP, but that's definitely not the case in PvE.

Lightbringer's gaze is also awesome for interrupting stuff like meteor shower that's going to come down and make your life miserable as a monk :P

Seriously though, in pve you never need all 8 skills to be a good monk.

LBGaze = Interrupt for any class, that does AoE damage to boot. Why wouldn't you love it?

And people are asking for monks with LB Rank X because of the damage mit, not because of the + damage from LBG. Doh.

Gaze is better than a hard res and most of the twats in pve insist you bring that...

There are Missions and Situations that bringing LBG helps a Team and sometimes doesn't help. Certain Factors come into play for each situation.

First and foremost is how balanced & experienced the team/pug is.

I have brought it and never had the chance to use cause the team would over aggro or the other Monk would just suck. Sure if everyone's health is up then by all means use the skill but normally your spamming healing to keep folks alive. There have been many missions when I would ask if anyone else has the skill and maybe 1 or 2 would.

My Vote is to bring it and if possible use when you can.

A Protection/Healing monk that deals 500 damage every 15 seconds, always take this, it's just to good not to.

Gone all the way even beat abaddon without even needing this skill in my bar. I just can't see what makes it so useful.

A monk with LB Gaze in a group I am in just makes me nervous. I would rather have him keep an eye out on the healthbars and not the surrounding enemies to see what spells he can interrupt.
