Would like to see the tamer be able to:
retrain pets to any "skill" level hearty, dire, playful, aggressive, elder etc.
rename Hero pets
buy hero pets
perhaps sell various pets as well.
GW is about options and the time it takes to retrain a pet makes it a big decision to change pets. I have some builds I think I would prefer a dire pet and some a hearty -- or a balance sometime.
I like the ability to rename my primary pet.... why not hero pets?
I may want to change hero pets....
The dialog for the tamer says he is an expert animal trainer.... right now all he does is buy......

I like the suggestions...
Could also make him a collector... where you give him/her the Animal, and he/she will give you back a hotdog...

I would like they pay you 50 gold per level instead of 100 gold at level 20.
Or trade pets between you and your own heroes, so you can use the namepet later.
Or reset them to level 1, XD.

Some of these responses I am not sure I understand.....
Also I think it would be interesting to know the pet usage of those responding.
My ranger uses a pet often - sometimes a bit of a shield sometimes damage.. would like to be able to change. (Ok so always a bit of both - but where is the emphasis)
My necro MM prefers a pet minion.... (regen rather than degen and interupt and all other skills and a lvl 20) - would like to be able to test high low and medium.... my primary necro uses a black moa - so essentially elder.
My rit likes a very high dam pet ..... spirits take a while to get going but run along time. Use of a dire pet with high damage skills (can get to war level - see wiki for suggested build) works great..... while the spirits damage and interupt send the high dam pet at target.
My war brings a pet often - esp PVP ......
