Sorry, but this thread absolutely reeks. A few of you need to stop, on several fronts.
I am a member of the Design Team. I am not PR, don't work for PR, and don't get my direction on what to say, what to talk about, or how to act from anyone in PR. I get my information straight from Mike O'Brien, James Phinney, and other members of my team. I speak to you as a Design Team member, as a developer. No one asks me to lie. (And all know if they did, I would not do it.) No one tells me to "hype" things, or bend the truth. My value to you is liaison, communicator, listener, explainer, and advocate. I'm a player, a lover of the game, and a person who truly enjoys interacting with people. (Or at least most people; you'll excuse me not being so masochistic that I claim to love to interact with those who abuse me.
) I have the great privilege of sharing news, forecasting things to come, and listening to your feedback so that everyone at ArenaNet can work--as we do every day--to make Guild Wars even better.
I am not always able to say "Hey, here's what we're working on, and here is the exact day and hour that it will be in the game." Not giving firm deadlines for some features is a wise and practical choice, learned from experience while at ArenaNet and at other studios, too. It's true, stuff happens -- something might be delayed and we sure don't want to set a date and postpone. We always strive to outperform your expectations, which is why this week's update had
more content than anyone expected, offered
more rewards then were dreamed of, and came out
a month before anyone thought it would. If you want to gripe about it, get a grip on the proportion of what you're looking at, and then get a solid grasp on a clue.
I'm here, daily. I will post, when I can. Or not. There is, after all, a limit, a true and real limit that you must respect. You are not owed my presence or anyone else's. You are not entitled to our interaction whatsoever. The box didn't mention in-game visits and forum reads 7 days a week. The game advertisements didn't tell you you could rely upon frequent communication with the team. Your $50 does not entitle you to abuse, insult, and attack anyone on our team because you feel you can or should or are allowed to vent about petty and illogical grievances.
Now, we can withdraw into an "ivory tower" mentality like most development studios. Or we can do what we've done for six year, and continue to try to inform when we can, share what we're able, and listen to legitimate concerns and the plentiful wonderful suggestions that make for a better game, suggestions that provably are incorporated in nearly every update, as they have been since we started the development of the first campaign.
I am angry. But more, I feel obliged to protest the content of some of these posts, and to prove the error of your ways in insulting the game and the team who is making it. How can I prove that you're wrong in what was said above? That it's not all hype? That we're not promoting that which you feel you were "owed?" The comments I made, and about which the team has been attacked, speak of another, future update.
So stop the insults. Stop the attacks. Or continue, and operate in an informational and interactive vacuum.
And yes, gabazieute, to your cheerful inquiry (and thank you for that
) there is more to come. I'm sorry that this thread devolved into such utter garbage, but I surely want to show you the respect of an answer to your question.
