Merging Accounts
II Lucky Charm II
Hello everyone, I bought GW Nightfall yesterday, Decebmer 1 and I accidentally created a new account instead of adding it to the old one (prophecies + Factions). Please help me, how do you merege these two accounts? Thank You. I filed a support ticket to Anet but no one has responded to me yet.

Can't be done manually at all, once you've created the new account that's it.

I have heard that in some cases they will close the account and reissue you a serial key to use. But that's not actually merging; you'd lose everything you had on the account.

I registered my new access key to a new account instead of adding it to my existing account.

I wanted to take 2 CD Keys from one of my accounts and add them to the other, because that's the only one I play on (account would still have had 2 other keys on it). Sent them a ticket, they asked for the keys, gave them the keys and the above was their only response. Yet, by doing the above, that's what they are doing except that the created account is closed and the keys added to the existing one. Definitely a discrepancy here.

^It's not really a discrepancy. It is technically impossible to merge accounts atm (which they say they have no intention of changing). But when you tell them you accidentily made a new account rather than adding it to an existing account; they issue you a new key to give you access to the same content. They're not just making the same key reusable; the old key is rendered permanently closed/ null and void.

If I buy a pre-order and oops and make a new account, will they issue a new preorder key? Doubtful. But if, say, I wanted to move a pre-order key, it's too bad. It's the exact same thing.
Another way to look at it is if they can issue a new key to same content access, then if I wanted to move 2 keys why can't they do the same thing? Deactivate the 2 keys I want moved and issue 2 new keys for the same content to be added to the account I wanted the keys moved to. Surely you see the drift here.

The reason they say they won't move keys - "Once a key has been applied, it cannot be unapplied." (or something like that). I think if people want to move keys between accounts, and both accounts would still have keys on them, and if said user could prove the accounts were his, they should move the keys since that's basically what they're doing here (provided that doing so does not leave the original account without keys on it).
