Glitched Dye I have proof!
Seraphim of Chaos
I stumbled on this at Kaineng. The chap was trying to sell it.

My Gray dye looks red also. It has for weeks. I think it happened when they updated the dyes so the old and new would stack.

I had some grey vials that looks like that too.
It's the old dissolvant vials that I had in my storage which became like that after the dye-maj.

Lag Hell
the red-grey dye has been around since nf release
Vilaptca
I bet the "red" gray dyes are actually old dye removers.
Maybe?
Maybe?

Before the change all armors came pre-dyed from the crafter as well.
Necro armor for example (real basecolor red) was pre-dyed green, warrior-armor (real basecolor yellow) was pre-dyed blue, and so on. By using dye-remover you could simply remove that extra layer and get the real basecolor to display.
After the dye-update the armors still have their old basecolors and still come pre-dyed, but this pre-dye is just gray on all profession's armors.
Several armors have always had spots where the real basecolor would still shine through after you applied dye, for example the "courtly" armor of the female mesmer. Take a closer look at the areas around the gold-applications and you'll notice a lot of green shining through (green being the real basecolor of mesmer-armor).
This still applies to new armors, even to the armors of new professions. Get Elonian armor for the female dervish and have a closer look at the sides of the hood - you'll notice blue-ish spots shining through (blue being the real basecolor of dervish armor).
So...honestly, the real basecolors of armors haven't changed, all they changed were the colors the armors were already pre-dyed with when you got them from the crafter. And instead of dye-remover there's now gray dye

That's weird because I did that quest yesterday and got a blue dye and it stacked.

Oh and by the way, the way most people get around the "one odd dye" non-stackability issue is, of course, to use that dye first, thereby tidying things up nicely.

Oh, also: I'll pass along the bug about the dye that isn't the right colour, with thanks for the report.

The dye I got from that quest stacked also. I was happy that it did, so I didn't care to report it or take a screenshot or anything. lol

[QUOTE=Gaile Gray]Are you sure? Take a look at your inventory, storage, whatever, because honestly it's not stackable -- the code prohibits it. If it stacked, it's a bloomin' miracle! (I suspect it's probably just in another slot.)

Nope. I had a single blue dye, which was what I got from that quest. It was sat in a slot all on it own. Then one day on my travels, I picked up another blue dye. When I checked my inventory I had a stack of two blue dyes. Something happened, the value of the dye from the quest must have changed.
No idea how, but it did.
