How can i tell the game to work in directx 8 with my dx9 card?

So my pc configuration is p4 3.2ht 1024ddr400mhz gf6800gt256mb
problem is. when the game runs in directx 8 i have around 50-60fps if i install direct x 9 or any game that requires direct x 9 guild wars starts running at 15-20 fps, sometimes is close to be unplayable.

changing resolutions/details doesnt do anything...

so is there a way to tell gw to run using direct x 8 with dx9 installed?

not entirely sure if thisll help, but there is a tag or w/e its called that u can put in the command line for gw taht tells it to run in dx 8. what you gotta do is right click on the gw shortcut on your desktop and go to properties. where it shows the command line for gw add on the end -dx8 after the quotes if they're there.
