just go outside in there and head right and cast kill the guys in the gutter....yes its that easy and alot of the time you dont even need a heal...stygian gemstones and gold items drop..better hurry before they fix it

I think he means: Take a Nuker/necro/anything with aoe Damage, go out, head right, and kill the patrol that is walking around in the ditch and is locked up until you take the quest. (sorry for bad english.)

works very well, unfortunately i'm a warrior so i have to bring an ele hero :P
i'm still tryin to find what's better though, 1 ele hero and more drops, or 2 ele heroes, faster but less drops.. o.O
edit: never mind, after 5 runs or so, i've found that the 'tormentors' drop nothing, the 'hungers' drop stuff, but don't leave a corpse. and its all crap stuff anyway. nice idea, but it looks like Anet realised that first.

lol works nice, tried with my ranger and you dont even get hit once, didnt have much luck with a nuker though as once in cast range they nuked my arse back lol, ranger is gona be slower though so not as good.

anyway for those who complains who can't farm, here is two skil you need equip for there.
Positioning(E), this skill allows player to be out of line of sight for indefinite time, and not aggro the second patroling mob
Fleeing(E), this skill allows the player to run away after being hit, it gives a 50% chance of surviving
All i got to say...... anyone want buy the 4 gems I got so far?

LOL sorry being a little slow there then! if ya use a long bow you never get in the agro range, either use barrage with conjure flame or say poison with the spirit for big old degen and they drop quick

I would guess that you have a necro friend there with you. If something gets assigned to you, simple map out so he can pick it up and then give it to you.

They'll nerf it soon enough. Slap a static Mind/Soul tormentor in that first group and it's pretty much gee gee.

sorry guys wasnt, clear your quite right i had friend with me who if we actually did get one was gona necro trav down there, it works fine sometimes depends on spawn sometimes it can be slow sometimes they use shields up a lot sometimes you get a necro on the other side of ditch who just keeps greating the equiv of flesh golem and you end up with like 20 golems down there (i forget there real name) you could stop this be stealing corpse first so thats no problem, problem is i did loads of runs ang got about 20 whites and 10 blues and 1 purple thats it so didnt even bother going down there lol.
Still my luck is always bad! may try again later but i think this one is probably best left to you aoe nukers who can do it quickly every time.

you can kill the mind and soul tormentors with long bow if ya like as you are out of range. i killed both groups but i have to say that the left group def takes longer as they tend to tag team you ie you get one down then about half way he will pull you into range of another just below the ledge.

Yes, darkdawn. Heart of Shadow and the one that's very similar to it (shadow step to a random nearby location). It'll take a great many tries tho.. :/

guys ive just started farming doa as i got my rank 9 in pvp an want a break.
Was reading this thread an tried it w/ my ele but i either get degened to death buy fire or by the mesmer in the grp to the left. Has this been nerfed since its been a month now or am i doing somethin wrong.

U can only shadow step to places which you can normally walk to, so no, shadow steps wouldn't work.
The group to the left has two tormenters, always.
In addition, you can farm the first two groups of breaching the stygian veil class without any worry using this trick. Just get a hero group that can kill both groups, get a corpse, take the quest, consume corpse in, and lure the approaching stygians to U with a hero.
