From what ANET stated I think it's a randomly reward.

No one has the 4 gems yet...

Coffer-strongbox: a strong chest or box used for keeping money or valuables safe

I saw someone say it just has a random weapons inside; either really good or really bad. Not sure how credible that is. It would be nice if it provided auxillary storage; but it seems unlikely.

Could the Coffer of Whispers be something like a Frozen Chest/Lost Strongbox then? (It can contain any kind of weapon, of any rarity)

In that case, it might be worth the trouble (I got my Crystalline from the Lost Strongbox )

No one has gotten the 4 gems yet? Good lord. How will anyone ever get 100?

I'm sure people have gotten the gems, but I don't know if anyone has put them towards the coffer.

They probably all went to Razah, I am currently stuck at two gems having a bit of trouble getting through Stygian alive

Wrong, you need 1 of EACH of the 4 gems to get the coffer.

from reading what the collector says, it seems like there is a weapon inside of it, kinda gamble..

but i doubt they would give you a really terrible one after going through the trouble of getting 4 gems.

its most likely a higher end gold skin from the area.

My guess? It's equivalent to a keyless chest, with loot either from all of Nightfall, just Torment/DoA, or possibly all three chapters (including possibility of getting a crystalline). Just, instead of an actual chest, it's probably something like a birthday present: just a box in your inventory you double-click, and it becomes the reward. So chest rewards-quality item, either purple or gold, with chances of rare skins, and maybe a crystalline.

All speculation, of course, but it sounds reasonable.

Yes but he was refering to the vambrance of truth that can be traded for the margonite weapons for 25 of each of the 4 gems. If it's so difficult to get four; how hard 100 will be..
