I would recommend installing DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft's official site, and making sure you have the latest drivers for your video card, which you can get from your manufacturer's official site.
Also, if you could post/PM me your DXDIAG results?
(Start > Run > dxdiag)
Go to the 'Display' tab, and click the 'Test Direct3d' & 'Test DirectDraw' command buttons.

See were it says DirectDraw Acceleration? I'm gonna presume that there all disabled, if it says next to the Test DirectDraw and such, "Enable", enable it.
Then it should enable it, ignore whatever message it says about it may disable something else, just enable it.

Sorry to hear that, toric.
Let's do this?
Start > Run > "dxdiag" (without quotes)
And use the 'Save All Information' command button at the bottom of the UI.
Then post or PM me the results?

Or just do what I said above...I had your exact same problem man, just go on "Enable" for DirectDraw Acceleration.
toric brightblade
man, it shows 3 different things, DirectDraw Accelleration, Direct3D Acceleration, and AGP Texture Accelleration, and they all say not available. here are the notes it gives me.
-The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.
-To test DirectDraw functionality, click the "Test DirectDraw" button above.
Direct3D functionality not available.
-You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.
Can Somebody give me a site do download the directx 3d thing? i'm really horrilbe with computers, and i really hate when this happers

...Just a question...is your Graphics Card still even on your motherboard? Lol. Because it should let you do that if you have a Graphics Card in...
toric brightblade
actually, i dont have a graphics card, other then the origional build in card on the motherboard. but, just recently, i took my computer into the shop to buy a radeon 9200 graphics card, and then they said that there is something wrong with my motherboard, and that it isnt compatable with any graphic cards. i think he said something about disableing the origional motherboard graphic card. if he did this, and didnt enable it again, how do u get it back? is it like, My computer, Control Panell, System, then click on the hardware tab, then device manager, and find it and enable it? cus everything is enabled there. man this really blows, we should just get a new computer
Josh
I don't think you won't be able to play Guild Wars with your on-board/intergrated Graphics Card...
If you insert your PC's Recovery CD, DON'T run it, but it has your Drivers for your built-in card, go into Add New Hardware, if it doesn't find anything like VGA Controller or something, find a Video Controller of some sort, VGA or something, then when it goes to install it, it'll get it of your Recovery CD.

but, origionally i was running with my motherboard's build in graphics card. it was working just fine, other then the fast that everything on the screen was either blurred, a big white box, or a black blob of nothingness, lol. i could still do things though.
toric brightblade
and, uh, our comp came fully loaded from costco, no recovery disk or anyting, does that mean i cant play guild wars at all any more?
Josh
I think you need your recovery CD for it to load the old built-in Graphics Card...
Unless anyone has any other solutions? Although if this only happened after the people at that Computer Shop did things to your PC, blame them.

toric brightblade
yeah it did, but it wasnt their fault, i guess when they whiped my entire hard drive, it took all drivers with it too. they couldnt ghost it back to keep everything, cus the computer wouldnt even turn on, it just kept blue-screening.
Josh
I'd just try getting a decent cheap graphics card, like ATI Sapphire Radeon 9250?
toric brightblade
our computer isn't compatable with a Graphics card, theres somethign wrong with the motherboard. the guy at the shop tried like 20 out, in PCI and AGP, neither worked.
Fear The Destroyer
I sent you a PM so we can resolve this issue.
toric brightblade
k sweet, thx
toric brightblade
well, new, perfect solution. buying a new computer, lol.
