Ritualist in Nightfall: Summary
frojack
Well I just destroyed most of Nightfall with an attack Spirit Rit. There was very little I had trouble with. The test was successful from start to finish. Every mission was done with this type of build. Certain missions became a joke as I didn't have to actually move (Nundu Bay/ Desolation mission etc.). The perfect conditions for a Rit. I just literally sat there casting Painful Bond for most of the mission. A few people even got annoyed with me for killing everything before they could stick there sword in. Lotsa' fun.
The last battle with 'you know who' was comically the hardest battle (Ironic as it's one of the easiest generally). It was annoyingly the only mission I had to attempt more than once.
Build I used mostly...
There were lot's of changes here and there depending on what was going on. I even used 5 attack spirits at a few points (Dissonance as well as Anguish). Energy wasn't a problem with Signet of Spirits. I really did want my cap sig back when I capped this. Who'd have thought ^_^...
Communing 11 (+1+3)
Channeling 11 (+1)
Restoration 8 (+1)
-Pain
-BloodSong
-ShadowSong
-Dissonance/Anguish/Disenchantment/Shelter
-Warmonger's Weapon/Wailing Weapon/Painful Bond/Gaze of Fury/Spirit Boon Strike
-Signet of Spirit's [E]
-Mend Body & Soul
-Flesh/Naomei/Sunspear Res Sig
Highlights...
The Drought:
Dropping it criminally quick. Putting Warmonger's Weapon on a Flurry using warrior and the some of the team actually 'dancing' towards the end of the fight. Even though the Drought still had around 50% hp ^_^.
The Desolation:
Getting Revenge on Vahlen the Silent and his annoyingly strong group for destroying me countless times when I used my Dervish on the first play through. Have that you dead person you!
Madness:
For Decimating Shiro in around 2-3 minutes. With no Spoil Victor, no SS, no Empathy, no Insidious Parasite...
In fact I dropped him before the Lich. Quite possibly erroneous but I was curious to see if it was doable (his wand is indeed terrible). He just couldn't handle the combined might of 4 Long-range gun emplacements. While hexed with Painful bond. He barely hit anyone either. Being able to remove conditions (blind) is kinda' pointless if it gets applied every 2 seconds. When Impossible Odds came along Wailing Weapon on a Flurry using warrior kept him perpetually interrupted, even though he was blind anyways (Aegis also helped a bit guess :P ). I can now see why Anet thought it necessary to give it a 25 second recharge. Still too long though! (starts writing a ritualist buff list...)
The End mission:
After triumphantly owning the infernal bodyguard, how annoying it was to face the deranged deity himself and actually lose _-_.
We tried to camp by him and just drop sprits like mad. With only one Warder the knocks where starting to piss me off.
Next time round, we removed some annoying members who thought aggro-ing before the spirits were down was good strategy and we got another warder (Zhed is cool!). My fellow Ritualist friend took Weapon of Remedy for condition removal and damage, plus healing spells (no heal spirits though, the tight...), we dropped him soon enough as well. The battle was really tough surprisingly. Though the morale boost's recharging my Spirits and Signet of Spirits was very helpful .By this time I had dedicated healing so I dropped restoration completely and went for a Communing/Channeling/Spawning set-up. Signet of Spirits was returning 19 energy per cast (plus I had one of those +20 energy forgotten staves from the first run through).
All in all, it was a fun experiment. It worked gloriously for the most part. I despaired a bit at the end for spoiling a perfect run, but Shiro more than made up for it .
So there. A happy ritualist story at a time when "OMG ritualist suck" seems to be fashionable. Plus the air was getting distinctly foul in here. Pvp aside, I like my rit...

Nice job. Got my Rit up to Venta cemetery and had put her third in line after my ranger and monk to finish the game (Protector on my warrior). Guess now I have to dust her off and take her through.......sounds like fun!

Nightfall kind of bored me...
On my Dervish I got the mission where you fight The Drought, but then, it dawned on me... The Dervish is actually really boring in PvE...
So I made a Monk, and I haven't touched him for a while...
So I've finally decided to take my first ever Guild Wars character (My Warrior/Me/N/Mo/E/A) through it. I finally bothered to complete Factions with him the other day (I did it on my Assassin, but stupidly I got Ceremonial Daggers) so I could get the Exalted Aegis.
I want to complete Nightfall so that I can get full 15k Primeval Armour on him, to compliment the perfect Fellblade and the Exalted Aegis.
You really beat The Drought that easily? On my Dervish with a Henchman party I found it really difficult...

Ya, the Drought can be annoying if your not prepared. Henchies and some humans are really (really!) stupid when it comes to aoe. Most smart players start to scatter as soon as they see it coming some (me) just as it nears cast completion.
Henchies always take damage 'then' move out of the way _-_.
A warrior with Warmonger's Weapon and Dissonance is more than enough to stop him casting. I do remeber it being rather tough on my dervish as it was pre- Conviction days then (400 damage, nasty).
Then again, I more or less solo'd him on my Shock ele. Most of the team ran in and instantly exploded. I told the last remainng monk to keep me prot-ed and I'll spike him to death . Worked a dream. Second Wind is awesome for front-loading air.
VorianVader, you'll enjoy your Rit in Nightfall. Trust me .
Ah Celestial Beaver. You've encounter him to I take it. He really annoyed me when I was trying to cap Vow of Silence on my first play-through. Up until I actually got the worms that is...
Incidentally, Earth Prayers are awesome on an Elementalist. I used something like this quite a lot (I know it's out of place in the Rit forum but...)
15 air
11 E storage
10 Earth Prayers
Lightning Javelin
Lightning Strike
Lightning Orb
Conviction
Vital Boon
Signet of Pious Light
Second Wind
Sunspear res sig
With this I have around 550+ hp and 94 armour. It's a joy to see Torment creatures running 'past' me and attacking dervish instead ^_^.
Another thing. Get Weapon Of Remedy asap. It's a very good skill for Channeling/Restoration builds, and those +20 energy forgotten staves are very good for rits also. I have around 55 energy with those things (a mixture of energy and hp armour mods).
You don't need to get the forgotten staves for all your attributes though. There's Alem's Remedy (looks like a paddle) which has the same stat's and is req restoration! About time we got some of those. Theres also a Channeling variant I plan to get hold of eventually...

Yep. Vow of Silence really annoyed my Ele, then my Monk, then my Mesmer...except at least she could interrupt it half the time. My Rit went through fouth and playing Ritualist through Nightfall was immense fun.

I agree i used a similar build and got thru NF np ....
The last mission, too many interrupts on the long casting spirits i changed to light of deliverance and heal party and helped a true monk too spam heal party ... and we got him
no problem...masters...

I recently finished the last mission and the shiro/lich mission in a pug with 2 ritualists (I was playing a healing rit with dunkoro, and the other was a pure communing rit) The rest of the group was an assortment of dervs, a warrior, a ranger, and a single necro.
This was one of those rare pugs where everyone worked together very well and just had a fun time. As we progress through the missions, the group started to protect us rits because we were making things so much easier. It was surprising to actually have the team praise the 2 rits on it for making everything much smoother.
Few players realize just how powerful the ritualist class can be, especially in Nightfall. If more groups worked together and waited long enough for rits to do their thing, the game would go much smoother for them and be more enjoyable.

Its the "wait" that makes Rits so hated. I hate having to spend 20+ seconds setting up spirits. Can't do it with henchies very well unless you flag the hell outa the game.
I dusted off a Rit toon I had in the storage bin, and I remembered why I put him in the bin. God, what a piece of $%#.

I like your use of warmonger's against The Drought.
Warmonger's and Wailing are pretty damn powerful spells.
Once just for fun I decided to take some warriors headon and they couldn't do anything against the wailing weapon.
Those 2 weapon spells also work well if you have a Rt/Me and use frustration on targets.

I'm glad the smarter more patient players are enjoying their Rit's through Nightfall. Far more rewarding than rushing around a some Wammo and repeating missions due to 'Reckless Haste' (plug!).

Those 2 weapon spells also work well if you have a Rt/Me and use frustration on targets. Yah, they are indeed very strong. Though Wailing could use some work on the recharge though. Having both of these on a Spirit's Strength Rit with a Sword+Flurry makes then very dangerous andversaries. They can interrupt whatever it is your currently doing in under a second. Every second. While also doing silly damage to you at the same time. They can't even be blinded if they choose. How do you beat that? (rhetoric for the smart-arses among you).
A lot of potential. Even if melee doesn't excite me much personally...

NF is too exhausting. It's wonderful and huge and all that stuff but I have been struggling getting motivated to drag my Me through and- mind you- Me is now fun in PvE/. Still not sure how I got the nerves to get the Necro through but my Rit is def next after the Me. (in line be4 the Monk hehe) Wish there was a way to cut through like in Prophecies. It just gives you the options to play the game when you want, and to rush it when you just want to get it done and cap stuff.
