I was jst wondering whether I have to ascend in our characters native continent. Because i have completed the building the base quests/quests in elona with my sin ( i just came over before any mainland stuff) and i still can't change profession.

You should be able to change profession in the Command Post :s

Yes, you have to ascend on your native continent before you can change professions at the command post.

You can ascend in either Tyria or Cantha. It doesn't actually have to be the native land of the character's origin.
