I'm at command training on my ranger from Tyria. I've done this trivial quest several times now, but it keeps getting (I think) bugged on my ranger. I'll cap all of the shrines but then the guy won't say a word after that and I can't get this portion of the quest to be considered completed. I've tried it with various heros and henchies but it won't be completed. I even abandoned it and redid it. Am I missing something here?

Cap all the shrines, then look at your quest log.

Oh well; the next step is to move all your heroes back to point 1.

I had some problems with it with my Tyrian monk using Olias.

Turned out to be, just killing the foes around the shrines aren't enough.Especially not if the hero is doing it from a range sending in his minions. Olias didn't get close enough to the shrine to trigger that it was captured even if all foes where dispatched.
Had to flag him to pretty much go and sit on it for a few seconds while waiting for the flag to change colour before moving on to the next one.
(IIRC the flag changes colour to show thaT the shrine is capped, might have been just waiting for a flag to be raised - was a while ago so my memory is a bit hazy on that point)

The flags do change color ... gray to blue (when capped). There is a delay of about 3 seconds for this change to take place, and if you don't get the "blue" (capped) flag .. it is not capped and does not count toward completion of the mission.

As was mentioned, you need to have you heroes pretty close to the flag for it to be capped.

Hope this will help.

One of the user interface elements (not sure which one) shows the progress of the capping. You probably have this feature turned off. This tells you if your heroes are close enough and are capping or not. Once all are capped, and mobs killed, return to point 1, as Savio said.

The problem was returning to point 1. I'm well aware of flag and capture points. -_- The quest log when taken from a foreign character didn't mention moving back to point 1, and so that was what the issue was.
