This is partically inspired from another post about by other asking for differnt attack animation to green weapons.
While an alternative attack animation might be harder to do, I think differnt attack visual effect for certain "special" (usually the more rare) weapons is a valid option.
As of now, most of the attack effect (the arrow you shot, the glob you toss from wand, the attack spark you get when you attack with sword, etc) are pretty much the same, which gets boring after a while.
So why not give the more rare or valuable weapons additonal effect? Have the Eternal Bow shoot out glowing arrows, Crytallian Sword have a crystal-shatter effect when hit, the Deathbringer Staff shoot out little floating skulls in a orb (Mortal Kombat style), make Fellbales hit-effect color black, gree-Mesmer wand that have shoots which leave a quick purple-flame (like burning, but purple) to target when hit, and more....
Effects are relativly easier to do, and many could be just change of color, or use of other existing effect. It would surely make collecting weapons more fun, and more differnt than just thier skins.

If they began to scale back on a few earlier weapons such as whites have the smallest to almost nill effects, blues have somewhat bigger, purples have just below current standard, golds have just above current standard, and then greens have something altogether unique, such as changes in color, I would definitely enjoy this.
I have always enjoyed the spell/attack effects, but when you get in large groups there are tons of these going on, and I think it would cut down on all the clutter while making them somewhat more distinguishable and varying so you could actually see the effects, not a mash of yellow and reds on the target.
