Is it possible to have your hero (Olias) as an SS necro? I've got him set up as this now, but he hardly ever seems to use Spitful Spirit. He will on occasion, but not as an SS really would. I want him to plant SS on as many as he can but he barely does it to one enemy. If he does, that's usually it and he moves to the other skills. I've set the skill to the far left on his list (was told they prioritise from left to right) but still no luck. Is there something I'm missing?

I took the build from a thread on here and people seemed to say it was a good build for an SS so I don't think it's the other skills that's the problem, just the fact the hero doesn't realise what he's supposed to be.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance.

Arcane Echo doesn't work, I've been told.

I haven't tried running an SS hero myself yet.

I have Whispers set up as SS. Have it set in his first slot, along with Reckless Haste, and whatever else you want to add to it.

Had him set to guard and he seems to use it ok. I have not tested it on aggressive, maybe that way he will use it more.

he will use SS and he will use arcane echo. making him use SS after arcane echo is the challenge.

for my curses master, i used a modified SS/reckless/enfeebling blood build with no arcane echo. he will use and maintain awaken the blood and will use br too. i also gave him parasitic bond as his self-heal.

In my experience, the computer is not good with SS. If you want to micro-manage and disable his skills so you can controll them, then go for it, but by themselves they dont seem that effective with it.

Thanks for the replies.

When I set him up as an MM he's throwing minoins out like they're going out of fashion, but the problem is, I'm an MM too so we're fighting for the corpses. Which is why I wanted to try him as something else. I know I could change my own build but I use the minions better than he does too, so I want to stay as the MM. I'll maybe try another type of Nec and see if he can do that any better.

Thanks again.

I just threw up an energy-heavy Curses skillbar for my second necro, and it seemed to go fine. I switched my MM to Animate Bone Minions to maximize the carnage and associated Soul Reaping goodness.

SS on AI is horrible because they will meerly follow your targets and throw SS on those enemies. A good SS knows to target mobs that are usually left for last or that have a high IAS for maximum damage output (like rangers or warriors - any physical damage class in a non-support role is good). Just make him a MM.

Or blood support/spike. If you use a team with a lot of physical damage, Order of Pain is a nice addition. You could also make him BiP to help out your hero monks, since they like to burn through their energy like nothing.

I tried using an ss'er hero, and as noted above, it just doesn't work. The key to ss'ing is spreading it across fast-attacking enemies that are tightly bunched, then following that up with the other associated curses, and that's more than the AI can handle

I'd say if you want to run a second necro (first being MM which the AI can easily handle), do something funky and creative

If you're running MM (and not changing the damage type away from physical by other means), you could give your hero Mark of Pain. You won't get to see the numbers fly, but they will.
