I don't know if this build idea has been posted before, but i didn't find anything with the search.
Shand Shards
Signet of Midnight {E}
Heart of Fury
Sympathetic Visage
Illusion of Weakness
Faithful Intervention
Mirage Cloak
Mystic Regeneration
Earth Prayers - 11+3
Mysticism - 10+1+1
Illusion Magic - 10 +1
The basic concept is to use faithful intervention, and illusion of weakness as soon as you leave the outpost. Then, once you get into a group of enemies, cast signet of midnight on one of them, followed by sand shards. Use heart of Fury to attack faster, dealing more damage in a shorter amount of time. If you fun low on health, cast Mirage Cloak, and Mystic Regeneration. Sympathetic Visage is just there incase it's needed, can easily be replaced with something else.
I personally haven't tried this, but only because i haven't gotten my dervish to the fire islands to cap SoM yet. If anyone would be willing to help with testing this, i would be very interested to see how it works.

I think it was posted before, because everyone was talking about it.
Really nice build though!
I never thought about using heart of fury to attack faster, however. If you can, try adding another attack boost (i dont think mesmer has one though, other than illusionary weaponry, which doesnt trigger sand shards' effect. I'm too lazy to check.) instead of sympathetic visage.

Since what I'm hearing is that this has already been discussed, etc...
I guess im a little late. Although, I just was able to get to the fire islands with my dervish and cap sig of midnight.
After about 20 minutes of tinkering and looking at my options and testing it on the dummies outside of Temple of Balthazar, this is what I came up with as the best option. I didn't like the amount of damage it did, i actually found it to be very, very little damage, however it has potential for a nice solo build.
Attributes:
Illusion Magic: 8
Earth Prayers: 12+1
Mysticism: 10+1+1
Skills:
Vital Boon
Sand Shards
Signet of Midnight E
Epidemic
Mystic Corruption
Heart of Fury
Faithful Intervention
Illusion of Weakness
If you're reading this, you already know the basic idea. However, I took a different approach to this. If one is blind, and there will likely be more, why not blind them too? Of course throw on faithful and illusion as you walk out the door. As you near battle, your casting sequence should be:
Sand Shards>Mystic Corruption>Sig of Midnight>Epidemic>Heart of Fury
2 major problems....hella long casting sequence just to have what you want,
second, I dont know what you're thinking, but 22 damage doesn't kill very fast -_-
But like I said, there are possibilities for this, I was thinking uw, it might not go that far but who knows, thats what i love about gw.
If u put enough effort into a build, it can become great.
FYI: u lazy ppl, I loaded the template for this build onto here

Kind of pointless, a scythe deals a lot more dmg. Only advantage is if you get lots of monsters bunched up, but there are better options for that!
shoyon456
exactly, a bunch of monsters....farming...yum....

Agreed...Scythe does more dmg and if monsters are bunched up there are better alternatives then using Shand Shards.

gets out pimp cane *slap*
did i not just say FARMING, i meant solo too fyi, as in something where monsters are bunched up that would otherwise hurt you? if they're blind, then you wont be taking damage if they're trolls or something
try groups of monsters like that with much else and ur a dead duck
