Nightfall effect on Factions
Blackest Rose
Has there been any effect on key Faction gameplay elements as a result of the Nightfall chapter release.
Do people still Faction Farm?
Has the faction required to control outposts decreased noticably?
Is it now even harder to get a non-henchie group into the two faction missions? (Cantha born/Tyria born toons... you know the ones... name escapes me right now)
Is anyone even playing the elite missions?
I hope that Anet make the decision to open elite missions to everyone - otherwise it's a pity that that content would be locked out for the majority.
(i.e. like they extended the increased storage to prophecies....)
It would help breathe some life back into them.

I stopped by Cantha on my way to Elona to get my assassin hero. Other than that, and going back to cap elites, I have no desire to visit Cantha again. I don't miss those dreary ghettos.

I'll be going through sometime to beat the game on my mesmer and bring my paragon and dervish through. Heroes should make henching my way through it a lot easier; other than that Nightfall won't change Factions much for me.

Stopped by Keineng today to buy some skills and ended up in dis2 with no more than a handful of people, kinda seemed sad after my last visit there with at least 4 busteling districts full of trade.
I agree the elite missions should now be opened up like they were for the weekend special event. Don`t think anyone faction farms anymore but I may be wrong having never done it myself.
They should also add celestial skills for new proffesions for the last 2 missions even if only to get a cool phoenix pet.
Don`t see any point in returning to the chapter if they don`t do something to improve it apart from any special event (apart from a little farm from Maatu Keep when needs must).

Except for going back in a little while to capture a few elites on my Assassin, and maybe some for my Ele heroes, nope, I can't see myself going back to Factions for any real good reason.
Well...I guess to finish off my set of Kurzick armor...

I got rich in Nightfall, went to get my 15k luxon armor... hated it so I got it salvaged :S.
Alot of those top guilds are still Faction Farming though. One of our allied guilds are good for ABing^^
The best thing that Factions has left for us is the ability to create alliances.

New lvl 20 toon needed quickly?

Cantha is depressing. Between linear locked gates, rushing through missions to beat timer, getting ganked by the random spawns, it just doesn't play all that well.
But locked content is what really hurts most.

Most Factions are easier now with Heros imo without having to suffer bad PuGs.

The big guilds still faction farm.
And we own an outpost 90% of the time, so the only time I go there is to AB or FF.
And to sell items in Kaineng, if they are better suited to selling there.

I haven't seen bad PUGs really be a problem there, if anything, several missions simply don't have the heroes respond to them properly (i.e. getting quickly wiped by Argo's Cry because the heroes waste their interrupts on other crap, or randomly decide to not interrupt it). Compared to Nightfall, where the missions are hard and I need to find a way to bitchslap all the monks that bring Heal Other and Healing Breeze then get owned by environmental effects, or worse, QZ.

I'm in Cantha with my para now, then to Tyria.
Perynne
I'm in Cantha, playing through with my assassin and having a blast. I don't know why people complain about it so much, since I for one am enjoying myself. Maybe it's because Factions was my first GW game so I got used to the gameplay.
It's true that it's harder to get good groups there now (and pretty much impossible if you play an assassin) but luckily I have some guildmates helping me out whenever possible.
I'm also willing to help out people in the european side of the game, pm me ingame either as Rosemary Marron or Tomie Pepper if you want some company or help.

Meh someone should start up a thread for sign-ups to get our NF toons through Cantha/Tyria I really don't wanna have to hench Vizunah Square with my Derv, meh I need ppl to talk with garr.

@Perynne - It was always impossible to get in a group if you were an assassin. When Factions started, there were hundreds of "a ninja!" assassins created who were responsible for the bad reputation that still clings to the profession. Every mission area chat was full of "GLF more NO ASSASSINS". They were reduced to begging people to let them join so they could get off the island.
Luckily, most of those characters were abandoned and we are left with the skilled players.

Hmm...forgot about the fast access to a level 20 character...but I really don't want to play through the rest of the campaign for the skill unlocks. It may be time to PvP again....
Emu
Fast level 20s are nice and all, but the corresponding grind to get your heroes up to speed turns me off of wanting to start another Canthan

I was lacking master on Vizunah for his title, so I went back using a combo of heroes and hench, which got it easily enough. My first attempt got me henchies on the local side, which only gave me a 2 sword time, but I got a group the second time around and got masters easily enough. 2 MM heroes ftw.

Cantha is probably my favourite land. Shing Jea is beautiful and I love Kaineng City, while the Jade Sea is my top area in the whole game.
It is a bit depressing that there are less and less people around the further south in Cantha you go, but ah well.

The mission areas are empty, at least on American servers. Last night, there were more people in The Henge of Denravi than in Eternal Grove and Unwaking Waters combined.
Urgoz's Warren is a lifeless tomb. I don't know about The Deep; I and others have been tryign to find a ferry, but ccouldn't, and have given up trying to go there.
Meanwhile, out-of-the-way places in Prophecies still have populations; for example, I found two districts of Deldrimor Warcamp last night. Lion's Arch consistently has more districts than Kaineng Center.
Outside Shing Jea Island, Cantha is a ghost town, relegated to farmers, skill cappers, and the few who, like me, actually *enjoy* some areas like Echovald.

Factions is very empty, not only compared to Nightfall, which is expected, but also compared to Prophecies. As odd as that is, I can't say I find it surprising. Factions is by far the most inferior of the chapters.

I took one of my characters through Vizunah Square (foreign) about a week and a half ago. Joined up with several real people and brought a few heroes, and we got really lucky--the other team wasn't henchmen. In fact, it was a team of Chinese players, who kicked so much ass in that mission it was absurd. They were all level 16-18 too.

I like Factions better than Nightfall, I brought all my tyrian characters (4) in Cantha, plus I made two canthans one and completed the game with them all.
I will only bring my elementalist to Nightfall the point where I can get the elite searing flames and stop.
My only character that is elonian and completed the game is a ranger and I did not enjoy the game enough to make new ones or to bring all my other character to Elona.
I must add that the only part of NF that I liked was the scenary, very beautiful, but the pityfull drops and some difficulties made me not to wish to go on with the game.
Pity, because I find myself playing again Prophecies and Factions with my elonian character!

i enjoyed factions much more than nightfalls, it was straight forward and didnt send u around in circles doing things for storyline. also they produced very innovative designs for the areas in factions compared to desert....barren landscapes....etc

I think it will be worse for elona when chapter 4 will be released, than it is for faction now that nightfall was released.
There is very few elonians armors who looks better than the canthan ones, there's very few weapons with uniques skins (a lot of them are taken from older chapters), most of the greens and collectors aren't as good as the olders ones; the looks of the torment and the desolation can't even compete with echovald or the jade sea;
And I highly doubt DoA will attract as much people as the core/prophecies elite areas on the long term.
Plus, the way the game is designed, unlike prophecies and faction, most of the time half of the players within an outpost can't actually do the mission in it, which makes things worse if there's not many people online.
