I think he's saying that he's afraid that eles can't solo farm in elona using NF and core skills, they have to use skills from Factions and Prophecies.
I see plenty of options in the Nightfall only skills, granted they are less efficient than using skills from every chapter.
Armor of Earth+ Stoneflesh aura + stone striker + mantra of earth will keep you alive pretty much forever. Toss in earth attunement and 3 attack skills, and you should be able to find something to kill. Obsidian flesh is also core, and it shouldn't be too hard to come up with a build for that.

Translation: Is it possible to Solo-farm with an Ele using only Nightfall and Core skills?
I cannot answer this question but at least I could translate it

Answer: yes, it is possible. It would really help to have all 3 chapters, as you gain access to sliver armor, ether renewal, ward of stability, and other hot skills such as that.
I've found myself limiting things to bosses for greens I've wanted; but if you leave from chantry of secrets, and head over to the invoke lightning boss, there are quite a few bosses on the way that you can kill. I take full henchmen to kill the mobs around them, flag them away, and solo the boss.
Here's a build that SHOULD work for farming this area for various greens (there's a dervish, mesmer, earth ele, and air ele along the way that I can solo, There's also a necro but I never bothered trying to kill him):
Earth Attunement/Aura of Restoration/Elemental Attunement/Backfire/Stoneflesh aura/stone daggers/aftershock.
It's fairly limited but should be able to farm most casters, just clear the mobs around them with henchmen, flag them so that they're greyed out on the party list, wait for the boss to regen to full, and then kill him.

Serpent's Quickness is Prophecies-only, so you can't easily go Permanent Obsidian Flesh (or Permanent Mist Form).
Arcane Echoing Obsidian Flesh will nonetheless give you a bit over a minute of protection, if you can kill something that quickly. I bet Thom's build will be better and more fun in most cases, however.
