I've played through Prophecies with three characters and Factions with four, but don't remember getting this particular glitch there. In Nightfall, I'm still working my second character through, and it's already happening all too frequently.
What I'm talking about is a particular glitch when, after trying to approach a target (usually an object or an NPC), my character starts walking backwards instead of running. Swiveling the camera or pressing the direction keys makes the character walk normally again, but this glitch is very annoying because it happens so frequently. I've had it happen on all sorts of maps with my Dervish and all too often on my Elementalist while farming Lightbringer points outside Yohlon Haven. It happens most frequently with my Elementalist when I try to approach a drop by pressing the "select closest item" and spacebar keys, after which my character gets turned around and starts walking towards the drop.
What I'd like to know is whether it's just me, or have other people experienced the same? I do not remember this problem in either Prophecies or Factions. The closest case that I remember in either campaign was my character getting turned around in some cutscenes while getting guildies through missions a while after I had already completed the storyline. But even in those, I didn't walk backwards as I do now.
Has anyone else had this happen to their characters?
Backwards walking am I now

I like it personally, looks like their moonwalking, but i figured out how to intentionally do this, it has to do with clicking the auto-run key and hitting spacebar while targeting an NPC. but yeah some other bugs I've had while running is when my char just Isn't straight like fungus said. but really all that i know is the game is badly out of sync with alot of things, like for instance when I'm in my guild hall with guildies, we'll try and cordinate a char sync lets say, but when we go to line up and stuff, people are way off on my screen, but on their screens everything is supposedly fine, and when i ''hug'' another player with the /rock command they will say I'm facing the other direction of them, or I'm far away from them, but on my screen everything is fine, or It's vice versa.. but yeah. this all has been around for along time, even the char sync thing, but since nightfall was released it has gotten 20x worse then it ever was. hopefully they'll fix it someday.

I love the one where the foes are right in front of me and my ranger shoots to the right and the arrow curves around and hits them. See? Easily amused. It's a lot better then being pissed off all the time.

I've slowly backed away a few times. Not too big of an issue, I usually get to where I'm supposed to go. I remember while jogging to Shiro in Imperial Sanctum, I looked over at my cousin's screen and our characters were right next to each other. On my screen, he was about an aggro circle behind me. Or the many times my view was obstructed while standing right in front of the enemy. Maybe lag?
Yeah..its no biggey!! I've had the same problem
If you really want to have some fun. Press ALT+CTRL+plus the UP narrow on the keyboard. (I hope that is the right combo...if I can remember it on the top of my head since its been months since I've done it). It will invert your screen and you can play GW upside down.

Why does everyone act as if this is amusing? This is clearly a bug that's being experienced by plenty of people, a bug that did not occur anywhere as often in the first two chapters of Guild Wars, a bug that is effectively being ignored the way the 360 one is. But where the 360 turning bug and the mission cutscene turnaround bugs don't necessarily interfere with gameplay, the backwards walking bug does. It slows your character down because walking backwards and strafing is not done at full speed and occurs much more frequently. Heck, with the help of this thread I've been able to purposely recreate it multiple times since yesterday, where the others are occasional slips for which I've never been able to do the same. Or are people so bothered by other things in Nightfall (AI, missing titles, etc.) that this is just too small a problem?

Personally, I find I do it less often in nightfall. However, I also move using a combination of the keyboard and mouse and it seems most use one or the other. I tend to somewhat role play and it can be funny thinking about what the characters are doing/thinking.
