A level or Experiance based title would be great! Any other reward would get abused and would promote farming, botting, and "grinding" (the buzz word so many GW players seem to hate).

I think people used to dislike a exp base title for reasons that it might be use as a requirment to get into groupls ("LFG Must be lv 50 master to join!" that type of thing). But I think by now, in current game enviorment, titles and title bias don't seem much of big issue, so I think it would be good to add.

If anything else, atleast a way to track the total level you gain after 20, since skill points flextuate as you spend them.

so something like:
skill point:30
virtural level:20+16

show on your Hero/title menu.

Actually, I think rewards for leveling up and questing should be separated. Don't get me wrong, I think rewards for leveling up is a good idea since it does provide incentives for progression. However, I'm finding a hard time thinking of possibilities which will not be abused. After level 20, you require the same amount of experience to earn a level up, it could be infinite and some people may find ways to abuse this for advantages. I'm not really up for experience-based titles since they actually don't have any good use except bragging rights; at least wisdom title now has some benefits to salvaging. So I'd wanna think along those lines but considering nobody is even sure if experience does haave a cap, it may not be entirely feasible. I have a simple idea actually, it's kinda lame but a player can get rewarded for an ale (or some random consumables that are not sellable) as a treat when he/she levels up; at least I don't think anyone would be dumb enough to grind for this to get drunkard title.

As for questing, I feel that there can be different titles (using faction points) for friendliness with different zone controllers. Doing the quests in these zones can help to increase your friendliness with the faction controlling that zone and these titles allow benefits (perhaps a small % discount) to be gained when visiting traders in towns/outposts of those zones, for example. For rollback issues, ANet can count for a specific character, number of quests that are not done yet to reimburse the points.

I just thought of sumthing thatd be pretty cool...what if u got to 1000 levels past 20 and the game lets you into a special zone that u can only get to when u reach 1000 levels after 20...and theres sumthing special about that zone like good drops or sumthing.....

the problem with a level based title, especially an XP based title, is it proves very little and is extremely easy to scew.

Take for example, two of my favorite characters. My monk, who has been played for countless hours (countless only because I'm not in game, and don't have /age at my command ) in PvE, and PvP. I'm fairly certain I've played at least twice as many hours on her as I have any of my other characters, including my necromancer. She's got all the protector titles, some random low level titles (explorers, drunkard, wisdom, treasure hunter), she's also done a bit of farming here and there (tanking with friends in UW). My monk has around 2 million XP I think.

My necromancer on the other hand, has been played a decent amount (she was my favorite for a while, untill I fell in love with monking), but more importantly, she was for a long time, a hardcore SS/55 Farmer. Griffons, trolls, UW, Ettins, you name it, she farmed it.

She has twice as many skill points as my monk, and around 4 million XP, even though she has been played less.

Basically, all an XP based title would do, is give farmers a free maxed title. Of course, if they balanced the XP needed for titles, so that hardcore farmers wouldn't max it out too quickly, "regular" players would have a hard time reaching even rank 1.

Skill points are a reward? My mains have more than enough skill points to go around, but, well, no cash to spend buying new skills and cap signets. Never bought a suit of 15k armor, much less FoW, I farm occasionally, but all the new skills to be bought in NF, not to mention runes and insignias, wiped out all the cash I had.

Skill points are worthless after a certain point. How about: every 5 levels or so, you get a free cap signet or hero skill point to burn improving both you and your heros? I'd rather get real skills for my characters than yet MORE skill points that I will never have enough money to use.

Hm... what about getting one free skill purchase for an already unlocked secondary profession skill for every level up?

This will not affect primary profession, so no one would get all the skills for free.
And no one would unlock or purchase skills completely for free, since you'll have to unlock it either by purchasing it or by unlocking it by skill quest, balthazar faction or Hero Skill points.

Would be like this:
- Ontil lvl 20, unafected. One skill point per level, as usual.
- When level 20, each level up gives a normal skill point and a free skill point.
- Normal skills points can be used as current skills points.
- Free skill points are used to get skills ONLY for secondary profession, not for primary, and only those already unlocked. There will be no cost for getting skills this way, but yo won't be able to unlock skills or get primary professions skills like this.
- Free skill points would be only acquirable by leveling, while normal skill points would be acquired by questing, missions and leveling, like now.

What about that?

It should be zero gold cost to gain a skill by spending a skill point. That's the first step towards making skill points have a point in getting. They should add more to it too.

So when you are lv25, the next skill yo buy will be 500g, but the next next you buy will be back to 600g... and so on....

well.. just a fun idea...
I like this idea . . . .

Rewards for exp would turn this into a strange version of WOW.

There is no reward here for time spent playing, lvl 20 is the max for balance and adding any kind of reward beyond the skill point would become abused and would unbalance the game.

Although the tittle idea is nice, farmers would make it pointless to have. I've played over 3000+hours since the game came out and have about half the exp as any farmer if that due to playing many many diff chars rather than using just one for that length of time.

I dont think farmers would be able to abuse the skill idea...with the skill price going down cuz think about it...once farmers have a good build do you really think they are going to want more skills that much....

Yes: skill points are "free skills" otherwise, they cost the current amount of gold. That would be nice.

Maybe have an option...you can pay either 1k+ skill points or 2 skill points.

Skill points have a point in getting already. The game makes you work for them and they throw in the money so you cant just continuosly power level over and over again to get skills even though it will happen the first few times, but youll reach a point were you need to get gold.

A skill point doesn't do anything by itself, that is the problem. They could just make it harder to gain skill points and remove the monitary cost from buying skills. A simple yet desireable reward which doesn't add money to the economy.

Although repeatable monitary rewards on missions would make them worth wile, honestly, many missions and bonuses are more difficult than farming, yet less rewarding.
