Wanting a good Dervish/Ranger Build.

Right now I am trying a Dervish/Ranger, because I love my pet lion. It is good to have an extra group member.

Any tips on any good builds for this? I know it sucks that Ranger has to take up at least two skills, but hey isnt taking up one skill space for an additional group member worth it? Will deal more damage over time than other skills that could be in that slot probably.

I also like using an avatar, so a build with an avatar would be good.

Rampage as one will cover your needed speed and attack boost. You wont have an avatar but IMO this beats any avatar.

You can also try apply poison for the AoE effects of the scythe.

Hmmm actually.. Rampage as One would be pretty dang hot with decent ranks of Mysticism... you could always use Zealous Renewal if things got hairy. I think you might be on to something there.

Why would you need ranks in Mysticism for RaO ?

And why do people consider Zealous Renewal as a good e management skill ? I mean if you have a mysticism of 12, you need 6 hits just to recover the energy cost assuming you`re doing some big AoE it might work but its still tricky. Most scythe attacks are 5e so a simple zealous scythe should be really enough for energy recovery.

The way this has been done in PvP was with a R/D version of RaO thumper that uses Expertise to lower the costs of RaO and some scythe skills, making Chilling for instance less energy intensive. There is a GvG video somewhere with that.

I'm skeptical about how optimized RaO is on a Dervish primary, but in PvE it should probably work.

Symbiosis could be good in PvE in turning your Dervish into mob fighter, that is, if you use lots of enchantments.

2. at level 12 HoF lasts 17 secs over a 30 secs recharge. At 12 BM RaO last 22 secs over 20 sec recharge.

3. HoF takes 1 sec to cast which will stop your action (chasing a kiter for instance) and tell everyone you plan on damaging - This applies to PvP only though.

4. RaO gives also a buff to running speed and both buffs to your pet. HoF gives no speed buff. Again, not a major issue in PvE but still - if your pet attack faster yoĆ¹ will do more DPS

5. Energy wise HoF is way better but the effect it delivers is limited in many ways. RaO on the other hand is an elite, one of the most powerful elites NF has brought, right near Searing flames.

6. More important - The OP asked for a setup to synergize wth his pet (I assume he has a decent level in BM from the start). RaO is a decent option.

Sure, you're right on some points. For this topic HoF is more useful, because HoF does more damage through the burning, RaO stops you too and he wanted a non elite because he'd like to use an Avatar.

RaO sucks on non-ranger primaries due to the extremely high cost. Not feasible on a Derv primary, you can't keep it up permanently without sacrificing the rest of your skill bar (- signets/adrenal skills, and rangers/dervishes have no adrenal skills).

So.. no.
