What will Ch 4 Professions be?
natuxatu
Any guess? This isn't a want list but more of what do you actually think it will be. I came up with this tread because I was playing through Tyria and there were Mantle Ritualists (which were actually Necromancers) So I was looking around Elona.. and noticed Corsair Berkeser which makes me think that Guild Wars are or were at least considering that as a new profession.
Samuel Anders
Well, since we've gotten two new melee professions (Assassin and Dervish) and two new support professions (Paragon and Ritualist), I think at least one of the new professions in the next chapter will be an offensive caster of some type.
chicks boy
I honestly think that next chapter will be 1 Melee and 1 caster.
In my guess, the melee will be dual wielding swords and axes and oh like barbarian/berseker ^^
And the caster... I dont know, Seraphim from Sacred(Game)? Or Shapeshifting ? i dont know.

I'm90% sure there won't be any new professions.. But being somthing besides humans, is a different story
Tendaran Fenris
I'm gonna go with the above poster and hope for no new professions. I think we have a lot already and if they release a huge content chapter, I'd think that'd be just as good.
natuxatu
Maybe a new race? But if there are no new professions then should the new chapter have the ability to create a paragon/dervish/ritualist/assassin?
Mr_T_bot
If they continue the trend, there will be one semi-useless novelty melee profession and a jack-of-all-trades novelty profession that specializes in something.
Carth`
I hope there won't be any new ones.
PicardSunstar
i want to play as a dwarf barbarian...lol

I have no idea why you people don't want any new professions...
I mean, Guild Wars is MEANT to get more versatile with each chapter, with new professions being the main metagame shifter, since it's basically PvP that's most important (but of course, PvE will never be left out).
And IF they'll add a new race, it should be restricted to the 2 new professions from that chapter, or else you won't be able to keep apart a human mesmer from some beast-like 'Barbarian' (or whatever it will be) that might have some purple/pink-ish looks.
I'd still like to be able to recognize a foe on my screen without having to hover my mouse over him/her to check what profession it would be.

I do find the Assassin hexes to be quite useful though. And the 2nd proffession specializing in something, being one thing -> ritualists with their DPS negation, and paragons with their buffs. Dervish in general seem quite useless, or on par with warriors.
Winstar
I'm not too interested in new classes either. Some new skills would be nice, but more importantly skill balance in the next chapter please.

An animal shapeshifter is all I want. Diablo 2 had an assassin. Gw has an assassin.

I hope there are no new professions and similarly no free character slots.
However in place of that they use the space that'd otherwise be used for the two character slots to boost our stash up to 100 slots.

I don't care for the idea of more professions.
Jaml
Some kind of Summoner and a Shapeshifter. Every other class i can think of is in the game. And we have plenty of useless melee characters by now. They are basically all like warriors only worse. So i think its time for some caster action.
Kuja
Work on creating a great game with no new proffesions... also take a good long look at all the current skills and make some nice buff's and a few nerfs here and there.
Perhaps even expansion of class lines... adding new a new attribute line to some classes.

I too hope for no new classes. What the could do is tweak some of the the current classes, As "Chicks Boy" said, Why not give warrriors dual wielding capability?
Curse You
Why don't you people want new professions?
I'm willing to bet that most of you will be getting rather bored of the current 10 professions a year from now (when they release the next chapter), so you'll probably want new professions.

I too hope there is no new classes, there is already too many skills ingame, its getting out of hand.
Besides everyone wants to see more ingame tweaks, bug fixes and features, not new classes.

I do like the notion of having the Warriors "dual-wield" swords or axes, and Paragon shouts and chants that can act like bard spells in some grinder MMO's and affect enemies instead of allies.
We have Dwarves in the Shiverpeaks, Tengu in Cantha, and Centaurs in Elona. Why not Elves in the Chapter 4 realm?

I don't know, maybe the next chapter can be about Assassins and Dervishes or something.

As much as I love new classes, I'd have to agree with a lot of people here in that we need so much more in the next chapter instead of new classes. A new species to play with would be fun, and wouldn't require any mass amounts of balancing.
As far as an actual prediction goes, I have no idea. Just when I think I realize Anet's vision for the game, I'm (sometimes pleasantly, sometimes not) surprised by what they end up doing. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Unless they add/change enough about the game in the next release to make it a whole new experience, I probably won't be buying. Not a threat, just being honest.
If they were to add new classes (but I hope they won't), I'd bet on some kind of shape-changing/druid-like profession (like my Feral concept class), and a battlemage-like profession (like my Chaos Mage concept class).

i concur [that sounds kinda geeky ] with the sentiment of most of the posters thus far.
no new professions plz.
no new professions plz.
DarkDervish
Maybe a Druid or has that been ruled out long ago?

How about a Monster Skill Hunter who use skill cap from monster but not bosses, so it can be melee or caster depend on skill one capped. it can be powerful either primary or secondary.
eg, song of the mist on nuker (en regen +6), demonic agility (100% double strike) on sin......

Just a random question.
If there's gonna be more classes, what color will their boss aura gonna be? Like, mesmers got purple... rangers and necros got shades of green, blue for monks.. what else?
Pretty soon they're gonna run outta colors!

I also don't want any more professions unless something is done about party size.
We already have 10 professions, and sure you have numerous possibilities with mixing secondary professions as well as party makeup. But when forming a party (especially if we're limited to just 8 in most areas of the game) there's a pervasive idea of essential classes and support classes. Each chapter seems to add more support classes, and the party size limit just isn't large enough to accomodate more.

While I would prefer more content for existing proffs to explore, and I recall there was a post about not every chapter introducing new proffesions, if there were two new proffesions this is what I think they could be.
1) a whip wielding offencive magic user
2) a quarter staff ally buffer
funny those sound earily familiar..............

I'd like no new professions in the next chapter, and instead have it contain content for all the existing ones. Not terribly bothered about new races unless it's something REALLY cool.
Avicara are not cool.
(Although I am seriously loving the idea of wielding a whip, as suggested by the person above me.)

The new professions are:
-A boomerang wielding savage with some kind of pet
-A caster with alot of armour ignoring damage and speed buffs ( kinda like earth magic + air magic. )

Spirit summoner and beserker.
If it was my choice, i'd go for a class that could shift into any non-elite creature that you have killed on that character.
Each monster in the world would be like an unlock.
Need a healer in the group real quick? No probs - shift into a healer mob.
Hmm, comes close to a WoW druid, but yeah... more choices and more fun.

They could always start mixing and matching classes to suit campaigns with the current 10. So a campaign with Paragons, Assassins, Dervishs, Elementalists, Mesmers, Rangers, Monks. It won't give any new professions to play as to existing players though, but there will be the ever present new skills for them to play with.

As for me, I'm not against seeing new professions come out but if they do I would like to see a new caster...I much prefer casters and I feel a little...unloved...due to the fact there were no casters in Nightfall.
Terra Xin
I'm betting my Non-RL life savings that there will be a Fortune Teller as one of the professions.
