Dmg+xx% vs Demons on a staff

I would like to know if an staff upgrade: Dmg+xx% vs Demons affects the weapon only or all the damage.

I think it's only the weapon, but I would like a confirmation, because on a staff that makes no sense. I am not staff'ing the demons.

that's about like when factions was released and i got many staff drops that were 20% to dragons... my guess is since it's +XX% damage that it would require you to wand them and not necessarily when you're using skills or spells versus them. as for me i trashed those types of staff upgrades.
